    wood stove/heater homemade

    Anyone have any ideas to make a homemade heater for camping?

    Sure, lots! It depends greatly on your heating requirement and where the heater will go. Start with a youtube.com search for "rocket stove" if you want the most efficient and effective design available. With a metal trash can and some scrap stove piping you can generate more heat than any tent you have can use in the coldest temps.

    Oh and the best part: rocket stoves can vent vertically on/in the ground!

    A 4 feet piece of scrap 3" or 4"square tubing makes the best rocket stove I've seen
    You'll need a way to cut it and a welder I think I saw someone making one on YouTube.
    We've used it in the duck blind for 20 years.
    I started out with nothing and I still have most of it left.

    +1 on the rocket stove. They are easy to light, will burn almost anything, and generate a lot of heat.
    If grasshoppers carried .45's the birds wouldnt mess with them.

    Lots of small camping stoves you can make just Google the following terms to see many examples.

    Tin Can Stoves
    Hobo Stove
    Rocket Stove
    Top lit updraft stove
    Soda Can Stove
    Penny Stove
    Ammo Can Stove

    Try making several different ones and try them to see what works best for you.
