Core Length

I have an idea for a core cutter that I would like to build.

My question would be 'what is the longest core you would normally need'

I don't care the diameter, just how long the max. core length is to allow for adjustability.

About 1.25". Anything more than that and I have to at least ask myself if I should be using a larger diameter lead wire

Here are tables from Corbins on core diameter - weight - length. This should give you an idea for various calibers; no 50BMG on the list though.

Nice find Mustang. I've been on his site enough, but I don't remember seeing that. That can be useful if cutting my own molds too, well at least get me close.
