    Wildey Shoulder Holster Rig Question

ok so i picked one up locally in really good condition for a great price.
i do not own a wildey though.
before i knew what i had i thought it would work great with a k/l frame gun for woods carry.
it's a little too small around the trigger guard to fit the k frame in, and the sights interfere with the gun holstering all the way

now i have a little experience with leather work, and figure i would modify it tow work no problem.

the question is, am i ruining a perfectly good sought after rare collectible in doing so? is there a market for this item?
should i or could i sell it and obtain just as nice a holster for my 617 or 686?

    thanks guys!
here are a couple of pics to show you what i mean

to cut or not to cut?

Looks unused. I'd post it for awhile and see what happens.

There are a suprising number of holster/gun leather collectors out there. I'd probably try to sell it on ebay. You might get enough to buy two holsters.

I did see one posted on a firearms auction site for $175
I would just hate to ruin something rare.
