    Mora of Sweden

Picked up 2 of these, one for me and one for my FIL. I am surprised how sharp they are. I bought the carbon steel blades but they look like chrome or stainless. Anyway like $14 delivered from ebay. Can't go wrong for an extra blade. Thinking about getting more for stashing and more presents. I always give flashlights, maybe knives next.

They're wonderfully sharp. I sliced a tomato with one of mine and it did discolor the blade, so they are carbon steel as advertised. Have one in the Jeep kitchen.

Best knife value out there. I have several - in the truck, tackle box, and have given them as gifts. Used one to "rescue" a stranded boater that had run over her ski rope.

For a few dollars more you can get them in stainless. I bought a bunch for my kids' emergency car kits last Christmas.

They've been around for a long time...I recently 'inherited' a couple that my grandfather had since the early 1900's, when he emigrated from Sweden, and they're in beautiful shape and hold an edge well!!! They'd been in a trunk since 1971 when he passed, and no rust or corrosion to speak of!

Just found this thread, I have been looking for a Mora knife for quite a while. Just found one in a "junk shop", 7 bucks. It is the laminated type blade. It cleaned up pretty good and sharpened to a fine edge. Can anyone tell me about the laminated steel? Are they any good? Do they hold up well? Any input is welcome. Thanks.

I have used a couple of the mora knives. I traded the ones I had off though a while back. Been thinking about getting myself another one. The ones I had took a great edge. It is a great knife for general tasks and good and cheap for stashing in cars and gear. I'd rather have that than one of the new bucks any day.

I bought one in Sweden about 40 years ago. Fishing knife with a stainless blade and a scaling edge on top. It holds an edge better than anything else I have. The leather sheath has deteriorated over the years due to exposure on boats, but the knife itself is still going strong.

Nothing I've seen beats Mora for value. Not fancy, just excellent quality.

Yep, they are a great knife for the money - I have the HeavyDuty MG and was amazed by the factory edge.

Looks like you all agree, if there is a better price point value in the knife world I don't know about it. They are well made hold an edge, useful blade design and can take and dish out abuse. Love em.

I have mora Sweden blades on 2 of my 8" ice augers and they are without a doubt the best blades I've ever used! The new mora ice augers are made in China, the blades say made in China stamped on them and there is an obvious difference!! You can stil buy the true "made in Sweden" blades, they cost more but are well worth it!!

Found out that SS doesn't work well with Ferrorod fire starter.

IMHO they should cost 3 times what they charge for them when you look at what other people get for other knives. I have 2 of them, they are great.

I prefer carbon steel myself, so me and the Mora's get along just fine.

I have one hidden in my silver stash, another in my laptop lap table. Gave one to my shooting buddy.

Reasonably priced, the new ones do appear to be chrome plated, if you look at the spine of the knife you can see a chrome rounded edge, with a strip of steel down the center.

A few minutes work with a file to get a sharp steel edge on the back greatly improves how many sparks you can get from a fire steel or Ferrocerrium rod.

Ohh and btw, instead of paying 20-30$ for a swedish light my fire, you might consider these.
