    S&W Mod 629 and NOE 429421 (Fat Keith GB)

    I suppose I should explain this months topic. It's almost like a wild card in poker, you can include almost include anything castboolit, that's your First for the year.

    For example, today was my first range visit of 2015 ...my Baby New year. I also happen to be shooting some Keith HP boolits from a NOE mold, that were loaded on new years day (16.1gr 2400).

    Happy New years...and Dang, it was chilly, 18º, cloudy, and a moist wind out of the south.

    I got a box of Hornady 45-70 brass from Santa.
    I got them stuffed on New Years Day with some 400 grain cast from a Lyman mould.

    Finally was brave enough to try something under .30 caliber again. .25/35 reformed from .30/30 brass, annealed, with Lyman 257312 as cast, no GC,tumble lubed with Ben's tumble lube, 8.8 grains Unique, vintage Western domed primers, 1 1/2 inch group a 50. Great start to the year.

    Just dug out a gun I got in a estate sale for $10 or $50. It is a 1918 Springfield 30-06 with a 1928 Springfield barrel in a bull-pup stock. The barrel is 22" long and the gun is 32' long. I had some Lyman 311284s and some 311291s cast and sized and thought.. Why not? I did a couple proof test fires with manufacture loads, no problems. I loaded up about fifty rounds with 11 grains of Unique and am ready, need to find a scope and get into the new indoor range here. This baby will need care this year...

    Finally got around to casting with my new NOE mold! This baby was droppin keepers from the get go! I did follow the prep directions, hot soapy scrub and 400 F heat and cool cycle a few times before using it. The hotplate also helps to hit the ground running.

    Well hello there, I'm new to the community here, and with a thread for new years, why not start here! For the last two years I wanted to get into casting my own bullets, for the cost savings, and the hobby aspect of it. I've been reloading for awhile now, and just never took the casting plunge till now! Some trial and error, a few burnt fingers, and wrinkled bullets, I'm finally getting some decent bullets. This is my first good batch of the year, made from wheel weights, with a Lee mold. I've learned already that Alox is some nasty sticky stuff!

    Sometimes it takes a second box of boolits to clear my head.

    2 things same day

    I too was able to take advantage of a warm day here in NC. Not a paid holiday though. Smelted this range lead and did a .45acp snakeshot case conversion from .308 cases. Oh, btw the range lead is for sale here;
