    sights?

i have a handi-rifle(sythenic stock) in 45-70(thanks again josh) and i would like to put an peep sight on it. i think i have the right sight http://www.midwayusa.com/product/698...rk-ii-aluminum. is this all i need? the front sight can stay with a little bit of orange paint(1/8-3/16") on the top of the sight. or do i have to take a new front sight also?

    thanks!!!

ps i have cast bullets on the way!!! 350gr ranch dog rnfl

Those sights work fine. I have them on my Buffalo Classic. But if u decide to go with either black powder or black powder equivalent loads and big bullets u might want the FP model with target knobs. The model u are looking at may not have enough elevation at 100 yds or farther.

Yup, what he said, for any kind of distance they are NFG.

You are most assuredly going to need a taller front sight. I have the same HR & rear sight on mine and the original factory sight was much too short...you will not get your shots on the paper to sight it in. The easy path is to get this sight: https://www.gunpartscorp.com/Products/1359180.htm ...I believe it is the tallest available from this source.

Likely a better choice (but more expensive) is to buy a 3/8" ramp from Williams and then get the front blade of your choice, whether it be steel, brass, florescent bead etc.. Installing the ramp will require to drill out & re-tap the front sight screw hole....it did on mine, cannot recall the larger hole/thread size.

But you are gonna have to get a higher front sight in order for that WGRS to work for you on your HR. When you do, it works just fine. Great as a matter of fact.

I have a Skinner sight on mine. It is simple and rugged, but suitable only for quick work at short ranges.

    skinnersights.com for info.
