    .30 heavy boolit design

I found this place http://www.mountainmolds.com/ and they have an online design suite that draws out your bullet. I have been looking a very heavy 30 caliber mold something in the 220 grain range with wheel weights.

I've spent a few minutes trying to make the bullet look nice, but I don't understand some the terminology or what I need. The main thing I want is a very pointed boolit so it loads nicely in an AR15 for my 300 whisper toy.

What I have designed and think looks pretty is bore riding secant, no crimp groove, bore ride top/bottom .309, ride length 0.050", 65% meplat, 0 body bands, 2 lube grooves, 0.126" band length, OAL 1.208.

It's a 2 cavity mold for $120. Is that a good price? Is there another place to check for a heavy, low velocity 30 caliber boolit mold? I've looked over the regular manufactures molds and they all appear to be round nose and not pointed at all in the heavy weights.

Your throat length is going to dictate a lot. But look at the spitzers here:

Reading can provide limited education because only shooting provides YOUR answers as you tie everything together for THAT gun. The better the gun, the less you have to know / do & the more flexibility you have to achieve success.

So here's what I finally motivated to measure. With a 220 grain Sierra Matchking pushed into the rifling, tip to bolt face is 2.345", case trim to length is 1.355" so the bullet needs to be at least 1.100" with lube grooves 1" from the tip.
