Just put a new Carbide cutter in my used WFT 308 trimmer. Yeah I bought it used & cut about 1K brass on it myself. No change from start to finish in the feel with the original cutter. Original cutter is HSS. New Carbide cutter off ebay was $13 shipped & WOW what a difference. Minimal deburring needed. Honestly I would only hit the inside on the last 100 I trimmed witht he new cutter.

Same as I bought but ALTiN coated few bucks more but still cheaper than replacement HSS. Truly cuts effortless & saves the fingers for large batches. I wrap some masking tape over the holes & hold drill upright. No mess & can cut a few hundred before emptying it out, while watching TV.

As the cutter dulls you will get more of a lip on the edges & is harder to take off when deburring.

Also I just received word that the WFT2 has a 1/2in shank. The cutters described above are for the first Gen single caliber WFT trimmers.

Was the blade difficult to change? Just undo the screw all the way and pull out the blade?

Pretty easy, just undo the setscrews in the first Gen. Make sure you push inward first & clean out the brass shavings. So they do not jam up the housing with chips. But its just as easy as setting the length as you will have to re-adjust it again.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I have a WFT 2 with a dead or least dying blade. Could you help point me in the direction for a similar carbide cutter that would fit the larger shank of the WFT 2, if there is such an animal. It seems like it should be intuitive, same thing with a 1/2 shank, but it also seems like nothing is ever that easy.

Kinda disappointed in how long, or how short, a period the original blade lasted. Little Crow wants $40 for a replacement blade. Seems a little steep.

I only did about 300 308's on my HHS WFT before it was too dull to continue. I had a new 3/8 carbide end mill in the tool box and put it on. Its so good smooth and fast that I wouldn't use a HHS one ever again. I got mine from Amazon here

Since I have the WFT 2, I believe it's a 1/2" shank. So I just need to find the same thing, but with a 1/2" shank, correct.

If I understand correctly I need a 4 flute carbide end mill bit with a 1/2" shank?

I know nothing about mills or milling parts. I didn't want to assume something and buy the wrong part. Is there some specific verbiage I'm looking for when it comes to this milling bit? I see terms like "square end" and "no radius". I can guess what they mean, but don't know for sure.

I think this is the same thing from the post above, but 1/2" instead of 3/8".
