two Victorian Grannies that grace my wall

    Hello all
these two beauties came from private sales. Both were fired once to see if they go bang, will get back to them one day. They look nice were they are now.

this carbine is in good shape bubba cut the forestock down while still attached, arg. The date is 1898. It shows the big "E" stamp on the barrel and the sold out of service stamp.

this rifle is in nice shape. The conversion looks very good, seen three others like this. Most of the markings have been polished away. It is stamped 189? Looks like a no1 mk3 with mk1 parts.

Very nice looking old Enfields. I have one such that I intend to improve upon one day. It kind of shoots and is a nice, light weight rifle with a lot of power. Lots of fun.

I like those swept forward flattened carbine bolt handles.
Found an online store years ago that had NOS bolt bodies with the swept handles at a reasonable price but they sold out before I could put in an order.

A really lightweight Enfield sporter benefits from the swept handle. It prevents getting wacked on the knuckle when the rifle recoils and allows for a bit of stock crawling.

The BSA sporters have appeared in quite a few period action flicks over the years. Benicio Del Toro does some rapid firing on the move with one in the 2010 version of "The Wolfman".
