    Well, the powder is in a clump on a flat surface. In that state, the surface to area volume is greater than the same amount in a small cylinder like a cartridge case. Under those circumstances, the results could possibly be different. (A loose interpretation of the first law of thermodynamics)

    You didn't read the tests. He couldn't get a spark to light powder under those conditions either.

    1884 Springfield:
    For any distance but especially the farthermost targets to 1000ys, a well designed bullet in 25-1 and seated to the rifling pushed by a full load of 2F Swiss - little to no compression. Something like the original Postell or an un-tappered money type nose using harder alloy at 530-540gr.
