    wipind solder

Anybody out there use wiping solder and would have some idea of the lead & tin content?. found some hocky pucks or what was left in the post after the school that teaches linemen how to close up splices (lead jackated) I'm thinking it was either 60-40 or 50-50 as I have a couple solder bars so marked. Thanks,Frank

Do a search for wiping solder. There is actually a thread ongoing now in this forum on this very subject. Scroll down 5-7 posts and you'll see it. The title is "Wiping solder."

Found this reading up on wiping solder. Old school stuff maybe, but neat.

I would not treat it over 50/50 solder. You have no way of knowing. Only an x-ray shoot will tell you. And if you have only a few of them........
