I use the paper towel approach. I use one of those blue "shop towels" folded into quarters, and I just lightly dampen it with kerosene. Size, a quick wipe across the towel, and stacked base down into the storage container. I too do 100s ahead, and mainly like the bases clean for storage purposes. I doubt lube on the base would affect shooting qualities.

    Bullet Base Lube Removal?

Dude, that's why men wear pants, you just reach down and rub that baby up and down your leg once, and presto, clean boolit base.

FIRST ,why do we need to remove it ? well it foul the powder ? that said I pan lube and use a pc. of window screen lightly stretched around 12 x12 pc a plywood or such and remove the hard wax at bottom of bullet at loading time ,use lee turret and reach for a bullet run across the screen in to the case . ITS the lube on the top of the bullets that kill me , it comes from cutter & push thru sizer and I get a small ring of lube on the nose of about 35% of my bullets , found that just keep backing off the seating die as lube builds in die till clean out is required . then wipe the whole cartrage down before storage ... Jerr

I'm told if you hook your heater to a dimmer switch it will control the heat enough to be able to leave it alone. I've not tried it yet but it could work.

It controls current which may or may not maintain proper temp. I have one hooked up to one of my heaters. It's a constant guessing game because the temp in my garage is never the same from day to day. I usually put my clamp on meter on one of the leads so I know how much current is being used.

Paper towels on the right of the sizer.

yeah all of the above AND if you still feel powder is sticking to the bullet, you can touch the base on a pile of corn starch to take up the sticky.

I use a thick terry cloth moisten with a slow evaporating solvent and wipe the bases on this.it cleans them pretty good.

I use a sheet of newspaper. Lay it flat on your bench and drag the bullet base across it. I like the newspaper because I think it is stiffer than paper towels.

Also, after I apply pressure with the wrench and remove the bullet I put a second bullet in and out. There is usually enough residual pressure, but less which might avoid a dirty base, to lube the second bullet with using the wrench.
Rich or poor, it's good to have money.
