need star luber and master caster help and information

I have the good fortune to be able to purchase a used star lubersizer and a master caster. The gentleman is currently using the master caster to make fishing lead weights so I am pretty sure the pot is ok.
Question 1 what do I need to look for in the molds besides rust and pitting, what if anything on the caster itself, and anything else you guys can help with.
Question 2 what do I need to look for with the star, this one has the bullet feeder attachment and the heater, not sure what die it has in it and not sure how many come with it.

I am looking forward to getting this equiptment and getting it set up and running any help would be greatly appreciated

On the caster you need to see if its setup for single pour or dual.
As long as the pot heats up and maintains temp there isn't a lot to worry about.

On the mold check the cavity itself. Also look at the sprue plate. They do wear out from use.

Thanks Hatch, there are about 6 different molds that are coming with it all of them are 2 cavity pistol. then gentleman bought everything from another member of my gun club about 10 years ago and probably hasn't used it for casting in 8 years, it may take for tlc but I think I got a pretty good deal for all of it.

On the molds just verify that the cavities are rust free and not pitted.
Make sure the top of the mold is smooth and doesn't have any gouges.

You asked me about additional molds you can use.
You can use almost any mold in the machine with the proper adapter.
I would stick to iron or steel molds though...
Don't quote me on pricing but I want to say the adapter kit cost $30 to convert a Lyman over. Magma charges $40 to do the conversion including the kit.
Unless you like machining things, i would send them off to get done.

finally took possession today of the master caster and star luber/sizer.
when I bought all this stuff I did not really know what molds and dies come with it. (lump sum here it is)

Well I got 3 molds I have no use for since I don't shoot that caliper.

On the molds, if they are Magma molds, they'll be numbered on one end. Make sure the numbers match on each half. They're numbered 1 through 8, since that's how many molds fit on the Bullet Master carousel. Each set has the number stamped on them so they don't get mixed up when off the machine.

You can sell the extra molds here on this forum, since there are quite a few who own Master Casters, me included. I've got two of them, plus a Bullet Master Mk. 6.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info reloaderfred . I am going to get some pictures of the ones I don't need and see if anyone is interested. I know for a fact I have a 38 super mold and I don't own one of them so it can find a home to someone who needs it. .

when I get all things sorted out I think it is correct for me to put any items I have on the swappin/selling page so everyone can see. I hope you to gentleman agree with me on this. So far I am cleaning and sorting through everything.
