Others have said it before, but a hotplate is a fantastic tool to have on the casting bench. I use mine to heat up my Molds prior to casting, perfect bullets everytime.

Took about 15 casts to get the mold up to temp, but once it got there I got perfect bullet after perfect bullet, probably 3-400 of them. When sorting them out from the water bucket I found that my cheap LEE molds are turning out a much higher % of good bullets than my RCBS molds are.

Received a new NOE 314299 mold, but need to fix the furnace spout before I can use it. Al at NOE is terrific, ordered it Wednesday morning before Thanksgiving, got it Friday. Will cast up about 20 lbs of them, then I can start loading for my 1909 Mauser Cavalry Carbine in 7.65x53.

Rediscovered why it is a bad idea to toss 9mm, .40 S&W and .45 ACP in the tumbler at the same time. Still trying to get some 9mm cases removed from .40 S&W or .40 S&W from .45 ACP. Really neat when they daisy chain all three into one.

Loaded up 15 rounds of 35 Whelen ammo for my hunting rifles and prepped 50 pieces of new RP brass for my brother. Loaded the new brass with J-words today and put them back in the tumbler for a final polish. Nap time!

What did you do in the reloading room today?

My son is sleeping and I'm waiting for the washer to finish it's cycle. So I decided to create a chart w/ this mornings findings. I'd like to see the weight variances a little tighter but at this heavy of a bullet I'm not to concerned.

There were a couple outliers that I didn't chart because it would have left to much dead space. Two bullets didn't make it for plain based and three for the gas checked. Just realized I never added the formulas to add up the quantity cast. 88 gas checked and 95 plain based keepers for an hours worth of work is just fine. I threw back at least one hundred throughout the session and culls at the end.

What will these get stuffed into?

Winchester Model 70 in 375 H&H. Or if I decide to shoot it, highly unlikely, a Savage 99 in 375 Winchester. The Savage still has the hang tag on it and I'm constantly debating wether to sell it or shoot it.

Broke out a new mould Lee C358-158-SWC, cast up enough for a good range session.
A Ruger Blackhawk , three screw ,357 magnum, bought in 1971 was stolen in 1995. Last month the police in Arizona recovered it and it was returned to me. It was my first center fire handgun and had been missing for 20 years...now it's back. Going shooting !

Throw the 45ACP in, let them run a few minutes, follow with the .40, let them run a few then the 9mm.

The weight difference between the GC and PB is greater than I thought it would be.
