well, finally finished casting my 9mm for the year, took 10.5 hours, 157.5 lbs which is approximately 9,135 bullets, will start sizing them with my Star Sizer with my home made lube, should last me a "few weeks " lol

Last Saturday off for the foreseeable future. We closed our dine-in portion of the restaurant that I run and now working a new business model, carryout only, due to the virus. Sat in the garage and cast around 600 9mm Elco boolits and 100 out of a new to me Accurate mold, 31-157R for the 30-30 I acquired a few weeks ago. Sized around 500 of 9mm from a couple of weeks ago. Spent the time reflecting on how we managed the last financial crisis.

    I sized and tumble lubed 300 Lee 452-230-RN-TL and 200 Lee 358-148-WC-TL.

I then loaded two dummy rounds for my new to me 32 ACP Beretta 81. Did this without having any dies, they are in the mail. I used the NOE expander for my 30-06, to open the cases up a bit. Got the bullets started in the cases and then pressed the bullet against a piece of flat bar that I held across a die in the top of the press. The bullets that I have are some estate sale purchased Lyman 313249, and some Lee 311-93-1R that I cast myself. The Lyman 313249, passed the plunk test, and cycled well from the mag. The Lee bullet failed, it got cocked a little sideways in the case and wouldn't chamber. Well 50% is pretty good for not having any dies. The Geco brass that I have is .014" at the mouth of the case, and then jumps up to .020" when you get about .23" down the side of the case. The Lee 311-93-1R will feed out of the magazine if it is seated .20" deep but I expect that the big wide single radius on the nose of this bullet is going to engage the rifling before it "Plunks".

Made 60ish 223 rounds with an end can of RL-12 I had laying around. Then proceeded to make a batch with AA 2230 as well emptying out that can. It was free powder so I'm just making blasting/stash ammo. I'm running it through the Wilson case gauge then sticking it into mags.

Sorted several thousand 9mm cases by headstamp these past few days. Loading planned next, then casting and coating. I want to fiddle with my new APP, but I really need to clean up my bench.

Plenty of time, between being retired and being in California.

It appears you are being productive! Regarding the present circumstances - I sent a prayer your way hoping your new business model works to keep you going until this pandemic crisis is over. I keep reminding my self, that "This too, will pass"...

Me? I am hunkered down with my good wife, trying to "be smart" and follow the guide lines until the danger is past...

On topic - I am working a bit in the shop trying to "thin the herd" as I get deeper into old age

Finished loading the last of 1000 boolits I cast. Then I dug the 650 out for a good cleaning and lube. Time to run some .223's.Click image for larger version.

Myself and the dogs set up a bullet/boolit "Green" target @100yds and put up a new pallet at 40yds. My son questioned the hay equipment parked there; I replied "dont miss"! Lots of times I've WANTED to shoot that baler....

Nothing today but yesterday I PC’d a bunch of 45 and 9mm boolits for the first time. I also sized some of each of them and set up the dies for the 9mm.

Just got through loading the 9mm I had cast approximately 1000 loaded and stored. Started switching over to load 45acp on Dillon 650, forgot about the primer system needing to be set up for large primers. Really dreaded that job and it took all of 15 mins, but glad I don’t have to do it that often. Still need a body case drop bushing to get it up and running.

Switch over to small pistol primers for your 45 acp. Then you don’t have to worry about changing anything.
