Yesterday no work, because the carpenters did not have the roof ready on the shed they were building. so I finished ducting in my ventilation hood over my casting pot and, tested it by heating up the pot and fluxing it a couple times, worked good. Photos on posts in this thread on page 427. poured a handful of rcbs 38-158-swc gas checked. then proceeded to clean 4 out of five of my handguns. Did not do five because it’s just my 22 buck mark and did not feel it nessary. Then felt it was as good of time as any to slug the bores of my pistols 2 9mm 1 44mag 1 44-40. So grabbed my torch and cerrosafe and prepped and poured each one setting timers to catch them while they were expanding to actual size. The two 9mms measured .356 despite being 57 years apart in age. The 44 mag is .431 and 44-40 is 429.

All I did on my reloading bench was inventory my powders (for the next purchase trip), and general house keeping (made sure everything was dust free).

Did all the boolit resizing and case prep (decapped/trimmed/chamfured/primed) for 300 44 magnum cartridges. Gonna do the loading tomorrow.

Man I wish my Springfield Mil-Spec would feed those. They are supposed to be really accurate out of 1911s.

I have a Kimber stainless gold match. It's been fed a steady diet of 200 gn SWC for almost 20 years. They shoot fantastic from it.

Have you tried them with different COL's, longer/shorter?

I have a bowl of messed up reloads (malfunction, or misfits) and assorted 'stuff' that I add to as I am reloading. I emptied it on the table and sorted it [again] and managed to decrease the volume of the bowl considerably. I got out the inertia bullet puller from the tool box and inserted a 223 that needed unloading, and the 'O' ring broke, so I put a note in my phone to get some more from the hardware store. Just a nassty day outside so indoor duties.

That is what I did with my Springfield XDm, I was determined, mostly because I like the holes they put in the targets (they looked like they were done with a commercial hole cutter). Hmmmmm, I love this hobby!

My Springfield 1911-A1 loves that bullet. I'll have to get a COL measurement when I get home from camp.

Unfortunately I couldn't get that bullet to work in either my 45 Witness or the XD Mod2 I couldn't get them to cycle at all. Though I was able to trade off that mold to a fellow member for a 200gr Lee RNFP mold that I am working on right now.

I’m not sure honestly. I quit messing with it several years ago. I have the mold for them so maybe I’ll cast a small batch to play with.

IIRC my problem was that the shoulder of the bullet would hang on the feed ramp. I’ve got a bunch of 225 RN that I’m hoping will function better.

What I learned about the XD is the extracting round hits the shoulder of the next round and jams up the gun.

First, I like that this report is on page 430...

Couple months ago, I was PC'ing some boolits and it was a bit humid. I was using red PC and I wasn't getting really good coats, so I switched to blue.

The red is harbor freight red and the blue is smokes signal blue. Smoke's powder tends to coat better, flow nicely and is just consistent. I digress.

So, I show my wife a pic of a tray with red and blue boolits and she looked at me and said "where are the white ones?"...

Flash forward to today. I just loaded 100 44 mags that I had PC'd Red White and Blue. I think it looks awesome.

Here they are "pre crimp" in my loading tray:

And all crimped and packed into my ammo boxes:

A shell holder works much better than that little 3 piece aluminum dohicky. (Or the Lee primer shell holders from a broken primer seating hand tool kit.)
