Loaded up some more of my recent light load for 38 special for a future trip to the range. Will be interesting to see if these work as well in the model 14 I recently purchased as they did in the other revolvers.

Set up my Lee 4 hole turret press to load .380 ACP. they designed this press with just enough room to use a Lee powder measure. Took some tetris playing but I got my Lyman 55 mounted.

    Lube size?

Respectfully ask, why do you not lube and size when gass checking in lieu of the powdercoating? Boolits look great!

I had a RCBS hammer for years. It broke same way as OPs. I have Frankfort Blue hammer now, for several years. And it’s holding up well. I would say both these tools made in same plant. I have my RCBS cap and cartridge holder as extra parts for Frankfort hammer. I used RCBS handle in small lead hammer I poured in old Thistle Snuff can as a mold.

I found these hammers work best if held lose and hit smartly on end grain of a chunk of stove wood. Something at least 1’ in dia and 2’ long. If you use it like a hammer and strike hard surfaces it will break plastic of handle will bend.

HELLO & WELCOME TO THE FORUM!

I used to always cast, immediately powder coat then size as needed.

Today, I cast and powdercoat shortly after then size very shortly afterwards. See bullets I cast are med to hard and they get harder as they get older. Harder bullets size.

When I have a gas check bullet that I feel I need a GC, I GC first. Then powder coat. My my reasoning is those Bullets are designed for a GC and not for pc. More specifically not PC under the GC. This makes for a better product.

The Powder Coating process negates the need of any lubes. Lube in the bullet (anything on the bullet really) can cause problems with the application of the powder coating. Even bullets washed in dirty water can effect quality of your powder coating.

Yes. We have one locally, run by a group of retired firefighters.

I had big plans for today but I'm having one of those weak days. I moved some deprimed and sorted brass from the loading room to the store room and I moved about 5 gallons of sorted wheel weights from the garage to the shop. I'm about beat, that may be it for today?

    Lightman,
That's the beauty of being retired! You don't have to do more than you feel like is enough for now.
Hope your energy level comes back later or tomorrow!!

Thanks! One of the symptoms of this stuff I got is fatigue. Every day is different. I'm learning to go with the flow. On good days I stay busy and on bad days I quit when the old bod says to. I can sit at the bench and load or cast for hours but moving stuff around zaps me pretty quickly.

    Joe,
Are those for .30-30, .300 Savage, .303 Savage, or .308 Win in that model 99?

    Nice looking Boolits!
