Finished casting up ingots out of the wheel weights I started on the other day and then proceeded to make 50# of #7.5 shot out of it. Finally tried dollar store fabric softener as a coolant for shot. It actually works better than the environmentally safe anti-freeze that I was using, and its a lot cheaper too. Looks like I'm changing coolant.

Prepped too many of cases of 5.56. My hands are killing me now. Better take a few Aleve. Was going to melt down some range scrap into ingots but the weather was calling for rain so I'll hold off until its nice out.

Damn it. I hate it when that happens.
Oh wait; it never happens to me. Enjoy!

Sized and flaired some .38 and .357 brass. I had the A/C on for an hour and a half and it was still too hot to stay in there......

It's the 358-158-RF. I've probably cast 2500-3000 boolits with it so far. It's been Leemented with Brownell's lapping compound, the cavity edges scraped with an X-Acto, smoked and finally I resorted to FA mold release. One cavity in particular is especially sticky, the fifth from the hinge bolt. I need to work on it as well as #4 and #6. I really like the boolits it makes but hate using it. Sometimes it takes a dozen or more sharp whacks with the mallet to get them all to drop. That really eats into the pace and even allows the spout to freeze at times. Aggravating.

Is it an older style moulds or the ones with the new style vent lines in it?
I had issues with an older one myself. I'm guessing if you're running cool enough for the spout to freeze it might help how they drop if you run the alloy a little hotter. I run about 700 degrees with 50/50COWW and Pure with good results.

Loaded a batch of 375 H&H with cast.
Sized a batch of 450/400 NE
    Sized a batch of 375 2-1/2
    Sized a batch of 8x50R

Was going to size a batch of 450 3-1/4 NE but had the wrong press on the bench.

I waited until 2000 and ventured into the shed, turned on the air conditioner and sized and lubed some boolits for my .357.
I didn't stay out there too long, still oppressively hot.

What did you do in the reloading room today?

Loading several hundred to a thousand 9mm 135gr rounds since I shot most of them training.
Going to work up the mihec 143gr HTC slickside boolits with bullseye, and TG at higher charges. Couldn't get proper case obturation at lower charges like 3.2gr TG (my fav 135gr load for 9mm) but it's my first foray into powder coated boolits. Needs a bit more experimentation until it becomes my favorite training/plinking boolit.

Worked the slide just fine, with excellent accuracy and recoil characteristics but had way more powder fouling than traditional lubed boolits.

Matter of time till I get it dialed in and switch over 100% to powdercoating.
    (Never thought I'd say that..)

One day I will try paper patching. I know absolutely nothing about it, but I have a single shot 30/30 that is just getting dusty at my son's house.......

That will probably be it for the day.
