Finally moved all of my lead and smelting gear into my dedicated reloading shop from the old storage room. Soft lead, raw COWW, COWW ingots, lino, 55 lbs of pewter, several containers full of scrap lead, etc. When the weather improves I need to do a rather large smelting / alloying day!
I may have passed my "Best Before" date, but I haven't reached my "Expiry" date!

I loaded up my 41 Spl brass with 231, and the 41 mag brass with Blue Dot. Used some Rainier plated bullets to start. Had some 255 gr WFN bullets but they're sized too big to fit through the cylinder throats on the FA 97 in 41 mag.

    Smile well, sat down,

gawked around at all that needed to be done, put away, ect, said heck with it,

and got out the new hand press(Buchanan) and played with that, sizing out some 44s and 357s,

Loaded 50 each 300 blackout with NOE 311365 and 11 grains of W296. Should be about 1300 fps.
Wonder if they will cycle the gun.

So on lunch as usual I fire up the ol pot and was casting some 358242's. I noticed a slow moving stink bug climbing around my pile of sprue's and rejects but didnt think anything of it.

Boolits get made, pot lessens, dump sprues back in....sweet mother of all that is holy what is that smell?

Yep. Stink bug at 715 degrees. Dont be like me, dont alloy in stink bugs.
Ill try anything once, twice if I forgot

I've heard of using bacon as an alloy (for shooting muslims), but never heard of using insects.

Converted more 223 brass to 300 blackout.
    Such a cool cartridge.
Hoping to cast some more 311365 this weekend. Now that I'm loading blackout the 2 cavity mold is mighty slow. Lol

Finally did a "test drive" on some candy apple red powder coat that I got from "Powder by the Pound" on some 200 grain SWC .45 ACP's. Neat stuff ... I'll have to try the candy apple purple next ...
