Well... after 3 sessions with no improvement in boolit release, I decided it was time to lap my new Lee 2-cavity mold.
And... a momentary lapse in concentration with the drill means my new Lee 2-cavity mold is now a one-hole mold
But... the good hole sure works great now.
Just think how many boolits I could have if I weren't such a dumb ***??

Sorted out a bunch more of my cleaned brass and separated it all by headstamps. Set up my small primer Dillon 550 for 9mm and ran a few test rounds. (And in the process spilled a freshly filled tube of 100 small pistol primers.) Put a batch of dirty .45-70 brass into the ss pin tumbler and turned it on when I left the shop ...

Finished the Polymer 80 compact build with a Glock 23 upper in .40 a week or so ago. I cast my first Lee TL401-175SWC and loaded my first cast lead rounds for .40. Alloy is water quenched (for convenience) COWW. Good looking round at 1.12" that went together well. I've been shooting copper plated reloads in the gun already so it shouldn't be too much to dial in a working load for cast and then starting loading in volume. There are just so many ways to enjoy this hobby! God Bless America.

Emptied the tumbler and put the .45-70 brass in to the dehydrator to dry. Ran a few hundred 9mm's through the 550 Dillon. Now I'm heading back upstairs to check on the turkey for family dinner tonight ...

Just finished casting a couple hundred round ball for the old percussion revolvers. 1860s style 2 cavity mold with wooden handles. Boy does that thing heat up fast. Hard to handle when it gets hot. But is does cast some real nice balls once you get going.

I don't PC. I tumble lube with Recluse 45/45/10. They feed perfectly. The gun required no breakin. It was smooth and perfect from the first shot. Polymer 80 really got the compact version right!

Cast 90 180 gr 358 boolits,90 150 gr 309fp boolits and 90 160 gr 309rn boolits then tumble lubed with lee lube .gas check them when they are dry.had to stop as my wrists had had enough .the 309 molds are the new type Lee double cavity ,using three molds in rotation boolits just fall out with ease ,using more molds at once the molds don't stay hot enough.

I setup the Bridgeport with the 1911 slide jig, got it all dialed in for level and for the straight run on the table using a dial indicator. Then setup a new Cool Mister coolant system. Ran a true up and square cut (just took .002) on the face of the slide and put a .350 wide flat top on the slide, then started cutting the top serrations, end to end. Got six slots cut before I stopped (center and 5 lower). After I go up and finish the 5 slots above the center, I will cut the cocking serrations, front and rear, then lower and relieve the ejection port, then cut the slide top for Novak dove tails. Then I will find a receiver candidate so I can cut the receiver to fit the slide and fit it.

Received a Lee Classic Turret press at Christmas.

There's been too much going on around here that required my attention, so I just got it set up, adjusted (for now) and running. Loaded up some Lyman 358495 .38 wadcutters as the inaugural load.

It's good to be back at the bench.

And, after using a single-stage since 1989, a turret press is just unbelievable !

I have been dialing in the "new to me" Magma Bullet Master MKII. This unit has several nice upgrades, including twin PID units and 1000 watt heating rods. I have a little bit more fine adjustment to the alignment of the pour stream to the molds, but it won't take but a minute. The machine came with a set of 8 .45 ACP molds and I am getting usable bullets now. This machine flat will crank out the bullets! I love it!
