    New casting station

Just getting in to casting and yea I got a little carried away. I'm retired from my remodeling business and still do some work on the side. I was able to get some stuff from a kitchen remodel. The counter top is corian. I bought the range hood. So this cost me fifty dollars.

Primed 100x 6.5x55 PPU cases I got from Powder Valley. Started priming 7.5x55 PPU cases as well, but the Lyman E-Zee prime started malfunctioning, ended up trashing several of the cases before I gave up, just a bad design, once the stupid plastic primer guide starts wearing it goes downhill fast. Had to have Lyman replace the small primer tray once already, now it looks like I'll have to call them about the large primer tray as well. Primers catch on the worn plastic guide and prime off center; it wasted a lot of primers, bent back one side of them, seated some sideways and even upside down. Wrecked several cases after I had to knock them out of the shell holder with a mallet. Was able to run some through a decapping die, but after couple popped I quit doing that. Need to go find my old RCBS Posi-Prime to finish off the 7.5x55 and do another 100x 7.92x 57 and 100x 7x57 cases too.

OMG why I have not thought about this. A range hood to vent the lead pot fumes. I am going to be stealing this idea.

To really improve the air flow, cover both sides. Nice looking work.

Nothing! I have been trying to get 7 so called Assault rifle ready to register in California. California sucks. I've lived here for 70 years and never would have imagined it could get this bad. Anyway I've stored up maybe 50,000 assorted rounds and have enough bullets, lead, powder and primers for about the same amount again. But I will no doubt have to move back to America to use any of it.

Cleaned some brass and reseated another 100 9mm rounds.

I surprised myself. The last trip to the indoor range after I finished shooting I cleaned the floor in my area and a few adjacent empty stalls for brass. When I got home to inspect my haul it was all 9mm brass... First time I ever did that....

What did you do in the reloading room today?

Cast and PCd 160 of MP359-130. Made a new PID for my cheapo toaster with Smokes red.

Shake N Bake while its raining outside with the garage door open. Fantastic coverage if you ask me.

Can anyone verify that a convention oven really makes a difference over non convection?

I started with a cheapo toaster oven and was limited to the number of bullets I could bake without having some get darker before all of them pass the smash test. With a convection oven I could bake 8 pounds of bollits evenly at one time due to the fan circulating the hot air.

Those look good for a toaster oven. I would smash test the ones on the ends and center to make sure all are cured enough for shooting.

How do you get them upright without smearing the PC?

This makes perfect sense. I was under the impression that convection just made the PC smoother.

    Thanks for the explanation!

I use nitrile gloves. I can handle them a fair bit before it starts to smear.
