I sorted out over 3000 rounds of 9 mm brass by head stamp, probably an exercise in futility but some brands of brass swag my cast bullets more than others.

I sort everything by headstamp also. Not that I believe it is going to improve accuracy but because I load on a progressive press and by separating it just makes operating the press much smoother. When I reload on the progressive I am loading by Sight, Sound and Feel so when something is significantly different I stop and check.

I think is okay to think about it a little , just don't pin up any pictures of it over your bench. We gotta draw a line somewhere .

I am loading a batch of 'snappy' 41 Mag today.

I loaded several different charges of 2400 in some test rounds yesterday, to work up a load. I wanted to find the limit for my 3" 657 with the Lyman 410610. and the winner was 17.7 gr. It was 15º and breezy, let me tell you the felt recoil goes up when it's that cold

I wish I could have used my chrono for a test like this...it's just too cold to set it up.

Funny thing the Lyman 4th ed, doesn't list the 410610, but for the similar weight Saeco boolit, it says the Max charge of 2400 is just over 16gr. (16.2 or 16.4 I can't recall?)
...and the Lyman 3rd ed does list the 410610 (cast in lino) and puts the Max charge at 18.8

    Hi guys,
First post. I sorted 45acp by headstamp to do another run of rounds on my cheapy pro 1000 so I can get more practice done. after that did more digging around the loading bench to remind myself of what I have in there. Then did some inventory and realized its time for me to stock up on a bunch of stuff, from 223 projectiles and primers , to realizing I need to finally buckle down and buy the production melter so I can load more 44-40 and 40-65.
Reloading for me is almost as much fun/therapy as sending them down range. been a long time lurker, glad there is a place I can talk with like minded folks

They are a decent little press, the don't have the polish of a Hornady or especially a Dillon. but for the casual re-loader who likes to tinker they are a good machine. I was fortunate enough to score mine at a garage sale, it has the old round wood knob and came with a lot of extras. I have only put about 150 through it so far, but It gave me a good idea as to what to watch for and work out. I plan on running a ton of 45 and 380 through it.

Indeed. I found mine on ebay while looking for a turret press. This one was mostly complete as it was missing the round primer tray cover and the shell feeder tubes and was set up for 38/357. Was able to get it shipped to the house for under $100.00.. So then I found a nice set of used 9mm dies and shell plate and was off to the races! Have since added another carrier with the large primer chute and shell plates for both the 45acp and 380.

At least for me it fits my way of reloading very well and I use it as it was designed to be used and I do prime on this press. For me it is just a fun, simple press and as long as I keep it clean it treats me well w/o a lot of fuss or tinkering.

Yesterday got up and Swaged 300 Fed. .223 cases out of the 700 that I have ready.
I use these for Practice using a J bullet shooting at High Power Targets, when the warmer weather gets here.

I use Dillon Super Swager, then Seat them on my 550, like to Seat them individually and make sure they are below the Head.

I can do 300 in about 2 hours.

I sized a TON of bullets!!!

I cast about 3/400 yesterday and powder coated most. Some 125 45 got a GC first and will be PCd today.

Gun shop journey yesterday resulted in 25/20,32/20,280,7mm Express 7.65 Mauser and 8mm Mauser Brass! My tumblers have been humming all night cleaning it up!!

Haven't been here in a while but had to awake my password and such cuz im back at casting and havin a blast(sometimes I think I like loading and casting better than shooting). Yesterday made 300ish 452-230 for a friend that acquired about 500 lbs of pure lead for me through his job in asbestos abatement. Shut it all down and went with the wife to clean our church but just had to get goin again when I got home. Cast another 300 ish but this time 401-175,coulda gone all night, that LEE mold was making some of its best yet(with a little help of course).
