I loaded 20.8g of the factory powder and seated a newly re sized .356 140g FTX bullet into the cases. When I was done I had 19grs of powder remaining... I guess a least one case of over loaded too!!! I fired off about two and a half boxes of factory. Yes a couple Had pretty flat primers. Being its a bolt, not a huge overloading. But might have been bad in a AR.
My buddy had issues with the AR he bult recently. The barrel was definitely out of spec and th manufacturer took it back and sent him a new one.
After about 30 rounds down range and 2 case head separations that barrrel went back too.
I’m wondering how much was to do with the ammo and how much was the rifle. It would seem weird that most of the ammo was ok and a couple separated. Unless they were way over pressure.

Resized 270 Winchester in a 7mm Mauser die then into the polisher. Next, cut to length then anneal. Rode the M/C for a while and swapped some lies at Gun Club #2.

Midway USA delivered an 8lb keg of 748 to my door today and actually heeded the note left on the door to leave the package! I was on my way back from Gramma's. I unpacked it and thought of all the rounds its gonna produce and then put it away next to the half empty keg of Red Dot. Now I gotta replace that keg too.

Sorted a lot of brass. A friend gave my wife five 5 gallon buckets of brass at the range yesterday. I'll be busy for a while.

Loaded 30 rounds of 270 Win with 33grains of W748 and the Lee 277-135rf. Use the 310 tool and a Lee dipper. Nice afternoon before work.

Punched out 500 rds of 9mm. I won a gun store voucher that bought me 2lb of universal and about 1400 jwords at a competition a few weeks back. Got to love near free ammo.

    .

I have read that KAK has a bad run of barrels in 350. Mine is a Ruger Bolt. I have had some pretty flat primers (factory) but no problems and no serious case head expansion.

I pulled all my remaining factory, trimmed & reloaded. I have 4 more boxes waiting for me. I’ll pull all those too. 8.50$ a box is brass prices plus it’s primed already.

Did I ever mention that I hate to trim brass?

Not in the reloading room per se, but I've been sorting / organizing a bunch of boxes of stuff in the back room and "unearthed" the very large aluminum storage box I have back there (about 4 foot x 4 foot x 4 foot). I've been storing "extra" ammo in there, but hadn't looked in it for quite some time. (Been so long since I've opened it I couldn't find the keys to the locks I put on it and had to bolt-cutter them off!) Yowsers! I have a lot more ammo than I thought! There is .22 rimfire (lots of it), .30-30's, .30-06's, .32-40's, 32-20's, 12 and 20 gauge target loads (LOTS of them), plus .32 Auto, .380 Auto, .38 Specials, .44-40's, etc., etc., etc. And I haven't even got to the bottom of the box yet! I need to get up to the range WAY more often and burn up some of this surplus ammo.
I may have passed my "Best Before" date, but I haven't reached my "Expiry" date!

Going to shoot on Sunday... So, went and looked in the ammo bin and realized that I only had 56 .308s! Oh man. So, did the brass work today and got 200 trimmed/primed cases. Will have to load them tomorrow.

Added a pid controller to my lead pot. Wasn't sure how accurate it would read because the temp probe is just touching the bottom of the melting pot. To dial it in I bumped up the temp until the lead melted. Then a little more until the hot mold started dropping slightly frosty boolits. If I get motivated I'll procure a thermometer to confirm the lead temp. Can't wait to get my new mp mold
