Smelted 52 pounds of pure lead Xray room sheeting into ingots this afternoon. It was about 80-85 F. & dewpoint at about 70. I sweated a lot, but the beer was cold when I took a sip on occasion.

I think I may be done with smelting for a while until I can get more COWW. Besides, I have surgery in about a week that will shut me down on that stuff for a couple months or so.

My "stash" is now at about 400# pure lead ingots, 20# SOWW & maybe 300+ of COWW. + about 15# of tin. I will continue to build the stash, but not gonna worry about smelting for a while. Only took me about 6 months to go from 100 # to this. I am satisfied for now anyway. I have enough to keep myself & family + a couple friends shooting & fishing for a bit now.

G'Luck to everyone with their doins! I really like to read about you folks & your doins. Please keep it goin!

Good job and way to go JB...I will pray that your surgery goes well and your recovery is swift.

I was just sitting in the shop a while ago and trying to estimate the weight of my stash now, today I purchased another 180# of COWW and I am finally in the over 1,000#'s club.

Thanks! I hope it goes well too.

I won't be doing much for reloading/casting/etc. for a while since the surgery is on my right elbow & I am right handed. So, I am right now trying to get as many done now as I can. While recovering I am gonna try to earn to shoot well left handed. I can shoot LH right now, but not as well as I would like. Good time to start working on it, I reckon. I have been distracted lately. The blackberries in the patch across the road are ripe. I have picked a milk jug or two every other day for about 10 days. The wife has made several batches of jam.

Rebuilt a Tru-Line Jr. Sourced the top nut, washer, turret spring and 5/16" bearing locally. Filed the notch in the washer. Had one of the modern turrets ordered from eBay multiple years ago, one of the last steel ones he made (now aluminum). Sprayed the whole thing down with Kroil and it works.

Does anyone have the specs for the spring? Mine is a little weak.

I used 22x28 colored paper from the dollar store $.60 ea
Cover completely with cheap 2-inch packing tape
I cut thin strips of blue tape, make the x
spray with cheap $1 per can flat black paint from HD or anywhere
then peel the blue tape off after painting

My next batch I'll skip the blue tape x and draw lines or circles with a silver metallic marker

Cost about 10 cents for a 7x7 inch target

PS any paint that contrasts with the paper (you can use white typing paper) works
I'm sure none of you has any old spray paint lying around

I found that the 600+ of my 5.56 brass didn't pass the plunk test. Only a few thousandths but enough. Guess I'm not as near done as I thought. Just glad I caught it before the rest of the 3000 pieces were done.

Made some today myself. 77 cents for the same sheets, 1.19 for the tape & the paint was just under $3. at Walmart.
(Didn't think to look at Dollar store.)

I use stickers for the bullseyes.

    It is a good idea.

Got extremely lucky with a local mold purchase. Guy listed some bullet molds for sale for a great price, so I drove out to pick them up. We spoke about shooting a bit and the calibers we load for. So he told me to grab a jug of powder from his shelf, not having a book to look for anything I might need, he gave me a mostly full older 5lb metal tin of 700X. As I walked with him to where the molds were, I noticed 2 San Diego Star sizers on the floor with some other gear. I stated those were some nice bullet sizers, and he said they sure are, I'll give them to you. I'm still in shock.

    Molds were:
