ok its together and fired one round through it this morning and slide barely moved, wolf has posted that the recoil spring is 14# I don't think that's right, anyone have any input on the correct poundage. I will post all parts used very soon.

Mine is toggle and lock up barrel 1911. 6" barrel in 38 spl. Load is 2.6 - 2.7 grns bullseye with a 148grn hollow based wadcutter ( normally hornady but I had some stars awhile back when I first built it). Mine is using a 6-7lb spring. Buy wulff springs in 5,6,7,8,9 lbs and start heavy working down to where it functions and feeds. These can be finicky pistols at times but once set up and working with a good load they run right along. Mine has a 6 lb spring in it. The blow back guns that dont use the locking lugs are supposedly 13-16 lb springs. ALot will depend on how tight the gun is fit together at the various places barrel to bushing, slide rails to frame hood to slide barrel to slide and barrel to frame.

I have several 5" 38 spl. 1911 pistols. Try a 11 lb recoil spring with 2.8 of BE and a 148 gr WC.
If this does not lock back on the last round lighten up the main spring.
