JON-E and other fueled hand warmers

I came across several hand warmers of various makes that run on lighter fluid. I hope to use one next week for hunting. Is there any evidence that the fumes from these will spook deer? I know in the past these used to be popular for hunting, but recently they have fallen out of favor, and replaced by the chemical pack type hand warmers. In testing the JON-E type, they seem to work pretty good and give off much heat.

Way back in the 70s I knew some guys who hunted with them. They were as successful as the others.
They make plenty of heat and are reusable, unlike the chemical type.

I used them back in the mid to late 80s, never had an indication that the deer noticed. I also used one that used a charcoal stick which seemed to last a bit longer. But honestly, the best hand warmers are a decent pair of gloves and a coat with good pockets. The best pockets are those that have little to no insulation between your hand and your body to get the most heat exchange.

Yep. The gloves don't have to be the latest/greatest/most expensive, either. I carry two pair, wear one and tuck the other inside my shirt. Switch them if my fingers get chilly. Nothing to it.
