Anyone else get in on the $129 shipped m44's from AIM?

I saw it and put my order in right away. Looks like they sold out in under an hour. "Shooter grade". I figured for $129 why not. It's not like they are getting any cheaper.

"Russian Model 1944 Mosin Nagant 7.62x54R Carbines...these are the few of what is left from a previous shipment. Perfect to clean up and use as a good shooter. Expect some to have rust/pitting somewhere on the metal. Each includes a FREE liberal coating of preservative cosmoline grease. We have found the barrels to be nice of the ones we have cleaned, however, not guaranteed. These Rifles are priced accordingly. No returns and only a few to sell so don't miss out!!!"

Yeah. It will be interesting for sure. I was looking for some sort of minor project. So I'm not expecting a pristine rifle for $129

Think I paid about $120 for mine some years back. Gonna swap out the russian trigger for one from Finland. Mine is a M44 made in 1944. Frank

That's what I paid for the first m44. $120. But it's darn nice (for a Russian milsurp). I'll post some pics of this one and my first for comparison. I had been kicking myself for not getting another when they were still around $100. Lately the m44's around here are $250.

Motor I forget who it was, but one distributor had them for $49.95 - you had to buy 5 of them to get 'em at that price though.

Yes I do, dealer cost however, sold 2-3 hundred I bought for that cost at 89.99, I made more on the cases of ammo we sold in the shop!

I also sold SKS for $79.99 and a case of ammo (1400 rnds) at the same.

Yes those (for the youngsters) were the good old days.

Wish it was the same today.

Well I jumped on a pair. Picked them up last evening. No pics. Sorry. But my 2 were nicer than I expected. I'd grade them a solid 7 and an 8.

Well, spent some time yesterday afternoon and a little time this afternoon cleaning one up...the worst looking one. No rust except the handguard retainers, small cracks on lower forend. Spread the cracks and glued/clamped them up.

Bore was nasty, not just cosmoline. Did Bore Foam, Ed's Red, Kroil, and a repeat. Killed a brass brush and about 50 patches. The barrel looks pretty good now.

Cleaned the stock as best I could with mineral spirits. On the main body of the stock I rubbed in 2 coats of linseed oil heavily thinned with mineral spirits. Will do the forend area after the glue dries a day of so. Won't place in any beauty contests...maybe she'll shoot.

Nice. Thanks for the write up!

I just pulled mine out of the box today. Didn't have much time to work on it. But snapped a few "before" pics. I did take a heat gun to one side and tried to draw out some Cosmo to see what it would look like under the goo. It's got a few spots here and there of rust. Nothing like I expected.
I know it's not a $60 rifle from 10 years ago when they were all in good shape. But with a little tlc it will be very serviceable. The rifling looks very sharp through the Cosmo. Need to clean it out a bit.

First pic is of the side untouched so far

This one had the heat gun taken to it for just a few seconds to see what lies beneath.
