I wandered into a local electronics recycler today, trying to get rid of an old TV set. I figured I'd have to pay, so I was in for a surprise... It seems the EPA told them they can't charge me to dispose of the TV if I bring it in, even though I know it'll cost them to get rid of it.
So... I asked them, do you have any lead, figuring I could at least BUY something. They have a few wheels weights and some dirty lead, and a few dead soft plumbing lead pieces, and a bag of commercial shotgun shot with maybe 18 pounds left in it. How much, says I... Well... $1 per pound on the plumbers lead, but you can HAVE the pellets.
What? OK! $5 later, I don't have the old TV, I do have 3/4 of a bag of commercial shotgun shot, plus a little dead soft to add to the stash.
Not a big score, but for $5, I'm very happy!
