Lets see your hunting rigs for this year

I know I am not the only dedicated handgun hunter here so lets see your rigs for this year.....
here is mine a TC contender sporting a MGM 12" barrel chambered in .375 supermag

the .375 supermag is one of a series of cartriges that Gates though up in the 1970's. The brass is nearly non-existant anymore although some of the steel shooters may still have some laying around with a ram on the head stamp.

this will be my first year hunting with cast boolits so they are getting a nice 225grain hollow pt from noe molds

brass can be made from either .375 Winchester with a trim job but that is rather expensive so I decided to make mine out of 30/30 brass which is much more cost effective..all it took was a little lathe work to make a long tapered expander and there ya go nice shiny .375sm brass.

BFR in 454 Casull. Already filled my antlerless tag with it this year. I shoot NOE PB RNFP 255 gr bullets over a load of 4227:

    No handy picture.
Ruger Super RedHawk with 9.5 Inch Barrel in 480 Ruger.
    Ruger 30mm Rings.
UltraDot 30 Red Dot Sight, with Butler Creek flip up caps.
Bullet 375 WFP-GC cast from a custom Mountain Mold. Hornady Gas Checks.
The end of my ammo box says 18.5 Lil Gun.
No idea of the velocity. So far I have never recovered a bullet, so it is going fast enough.

I also have a Super 14 Contender chambered in 35 Bullberry. The 35 Bullberry is formed from 375 Winchester brass necked down, and blown out. For all practical purposes a 35 Remington Rimmed that will go approximately 100 fps faster (Max Loaded) than the 35 Remington from a 14 Inch barrel. I normally just use 35 Remington handgun loading data. That load shoots plenty hard enough. I have an older Burris 2.5 - 7 handgun scope on it. The same scope that has been on it for close to 20 years. TSOB Scope Base with 6 screws, and 3 Burris Z Rings.
I have been seriously thinking about changing to a UltraDot 30 on it as well. It is much easier to get the UltraDot 30 on target in the woods.

I also have a 6.5 X 30 JDJ Super 14 barrel set up just like the 35 Bullberry. The wife hunts with it some times.

I also have a 414sm and the 445sm that I hunt with. We are still stuck with straight wall cartridges only here in ohio for hunting. So the really neat barrels are out of the picture for deer here.

I forgot about Ohio and their rules. The straight wall part takes a lot of fun cartridges out of play.

I missed a turkey with the GP100 just today. My old H&R has collected lots of squirrels, and this will be the first year hunting with the Blackhawk in 45acp.

I know this is supposed to be rigs for this season, gotta get those pictures together so here are a couple Rigs from Seasons Past...

    2009, 6.5" .41 Mag Blackhawk, 245 SWC/H110/CCI350/Starline

    2011, 7.5" .480 Ruger Super Redhawk, 355 SWC/H110/CCI350/Starline

And I guess this is the first out of the safe for this year (forgot I had taken this pic)
    7.5" Super Blackhawk Hunter, 265LBT WLNGC/H110/CCI350/Starline

Yesterday was opening Day here, got out last evening for a bit. Got busted by a buck (how do they see through brush or smell you downwind?) Just gotta keep trying I guess

    Thanx
The Stocks are "Bear Paws" in Blackline Maple by gooseman179 over on the Rugerforum .com board. Great guy to work with, good price and I think they are big improvement over factory. I like them so much I have a couple sets laying around waiting for a gun to wear them. Better go wander around the Classifieds and GunBroker I guess...
