Kevin, no lube works if the bullet is too small. Fact.
First get your bullet fit, then try again.
I would start with .359's or .360's.
I doubt you will want to do anything to change your mold. So the easy answer may be to change the alloy.
Bullet fit is king, and has to come first. Everything else follows including lube, charge, powder choice. Hang in there.
Thanks, GhostHawk. I will slug the barrels. In the mean time I'll see if .357 sizing, or using the .358's as dropped will work.
I got the Accurates at 358 because I figured that gave me some wiggle room. I do hope I didn't drop those C notes on molds that are too small. Being mechanically inept, any beagling done by me would probably change the molds into .40's 8^6
Sorry for the novice question: I need more tin to drop a bigger bullet?
Yes that is what I would try first.
Or buy a cheap 20$ lee mold and beagle it if you need to.
Loaded those 356-120 tc as dropped they were a little out of round at .357-.358
some coated once. Some coated twice.
Loaded over 4 grains of bullseye.
Leaded in both a shield and a 659. I shot anout 20 rounds total and called it quits. What am I doing wrong?
I've looked through the threads without success in finding out how to soften dried LL. I have half a squirt bottle of it that's dried out. I don't want to put it in the microwave and in a pan of very hot water doesn't work either.
I'm sure at one time I read a way to soften it, but can't find it. Can anyone help?

Lighter fluid will work just fine to thin it.
I now use a tall jelly jar ( glass ) with a rubber seal lid.
My liquid lube doesn't dry out anymore.

Essentially naptha, or Mineral spirits.
My bulk storage is a repurposed Ragu jar.
Finer grades of naptha would evaporate faster. Ie fluid for a lighter vs charcoal lighter fluid.
I did buy a quart of oderless Mineral spirits and that works fine also.
Just used up another bag full of 45 acp coated in bll. 200gr hp from MP was the mold, range scrap for the lead. 1 wet patch, brush, and a single dry patch....bore is sparkly again!

Ive found some in the USA, But it turned out to be about $170 a bottle posted to OZ.... Sadly Bunnings etc carry nothing like it...
I found my 45-45-10 Dried hard plastic bottle of lube in the garage the other day. I've had to warm this in hot water in the past to use it. It was early in the morning and nice sunny day.
I left it in the sun on my old truck tail gate. By the time I got to tumble lubing in the afternoon the mix was soup. Shook it a while, used it and now transfers to a glass jar with tight lid.
Funny but the old white bottle of lee alox was still soft as it sat.
I'm still using my first batch of Ben's red I made. Works great in my 450's. Refilled it several times with cut strips like pictured in Ben's post. My 45-45-10 TL working on everything else PLUS as some have found, recoating old dried, cracked lubed boolits with it really works well.
Ben thank you again for all your hard work. Some day I will need to make some of the newer TL mix you came up wth.

Mike,
No thanks necessary.
I'm just glad that you're enjoying the lube(s).
Best to you,
Ben
Finally got some Xlox in the mail yesterday and promptly mixed up some BLL ver 2.0
man this stuff is really thin, since I put about 10 drops per 100 .358 pills, shook it up and spread them on wax paper. Debating on another thin coat, but I think I'm just gonna load and shoot em
$75 for a 22 ounce can on Amazon !! Gee whats in it?
Maybe I'll find it in a garage sale one day for a couple bucks.
Ive found tons Sc Johnson one step for sale in the USA at very very cheap prices ($9-11 can) Only problem is, Not one of them will pack 4 cans into a cardboard tube and post them here to Oz...
I've been playing with the Lundsford and can't seem to get it to work at all. Lube won't dry, even with three coats severe leading, none with Hi-Tek on same boolit in same gun. I'm wondering if it's a solvent problem.
There's mineral spirits, then there's mineral spirits. That white milky odorless stuff that most places sell as mineral spirits is not mineral spirits that I remember from 20 years ago.
Semper Fi!
Currently casting for .223, .308, .30-06, .30-40 Krag, 9mm, .38/.357, 10mm, 44 Mag and 45 ACP.
I like strange looking boolits!
