This new improved Klear is really easy to use, 200 boolits lubed with Ben's Red, then gently tumbled a couple of times with a few drops of the liquid new-Klear, it's funny stuff, you can feel it setting to dry almost right away, yet it never feels sticky.

Spreading out on greaseproof paper and allowing to dry. They feel good ...and smell good too!

Sort of a branch-off to the main thread of Ben's here, but this does add a tough, sheer-thin skin over the whole boolit and lube, so handle very well which is what I need.

    PERFORMS AS ADVERTIZED:

Yesterday I cast about 120 bullets for my 40 S&W, using the Lee TL401 SWC mould. It indicates that it will yield a 175 gr. bullet. Using wheel weights mine were 182 grains +/- 2 grains. I inspect them every time I handle them, so by the time I was all done, I was down to 98 keepers.

Some have told me I am too picky - a little OCD when it comes to my bullets. But I have only myself to satisfy. And I like to pick up a bullet I made and feel good enough about what I see to give a little smile of pleasure and satisfaction for a job well done.

Next, I bought a 22 oz. can of S C Johnson liquid floor wax at Home Depot earlier this evening. It was $6.48 + the 6% Michigan sales tax. I've no doubt it will last me as long as I am casting bullets. With that, and the Lee Liquid Alox I mixed up some of Ben's Liquid Lube.

After the first coat dried - quite quickly - I ran the bullets through my Lee sizing die and coated them again. They are drying as I write.

    Observations:

    1. The lube seems to go a lot farther than even the Lee lube I use diluted with mineral spirits.
    2. The lube appears to be evenly distributed - no thick spots or globs.
    3. For those who don't mind tumble lubing I believe this is the way to go, especially if you buy a quart of the While Label Liquid X-Lox you will likely be set for life at a very reasonable price.
    4. I am going to try this in my 7mm-08 at around 1600 fps. I have done this already with the Lee Liquid Alox thinned with mineral spirits with no leading. The Ben's Liquid Lube has the added benefit of a wax of some sort that the plain mineral spirits does not have.
    5. Last but not least - there is NO smell of melting grease, bees wax and other ingredients that go into making Ben's Red. That job really needs to be done outside the odor really lingers.

If I remember, I will let you know how they shoot.

Did you take the time to read post 47? There is no mystery.

Thank you for fact checking. I did in fact read post #47. And I was acknowledging post#47, and the earlier comments of Ben in my post. Since I don't know what sort of wax Polymer Wax AV-518 is, that is how I described it - "some sort of wax."

It seems like the perfect solution to bottles of alox sitting on the shelf. I don't know what that is either, other than what is stated on the SC Johnson web site.

I have and i must say i'm impressed. It drys pretty quick and doesn't have that sticky feeling of just alox. It leaves a solid coating with just one tumble.
I'm hoping this improves my plain base boolit velocity. It sure locks the lube in the grooves.....I love it.

Pretty quick and simple wasn't it ?

Now, head to the range and give them a thorough test and report back please.

    Many thanks,
    Ben

So who can answer the million dollar question? How bad is the Alox smell when shooting them? I know it's being picky. But the smell is one of the main reasons I don't tumble lube bullets.

LOL...my range time may be held up for a few more days. I took a little fall while working sat. At age 61 i don't bounce as well as i used to. This time it was more like a bag of hammers hitting the ground. Got some real nice bruised ribs out of the deal. Got some new gas checks and a new boolit to try out too.
What a time to get all "stove up"! Oh well...their lubed and ready to go when i am.

And yes, it was quick and simple. Thanks again for sharing it with us all!

I haven't shot any yet, so I don't know, but I've always liked the smell of cosmoline and LLA smells just as good to me (maybe they're the same thing).

Thanks Ben...no worries. I'll probably be shooting again by the weekend. Albeit just a little tentively though lol.
