    Single 7, with pics

Got the 5.5", had to send it back to Ruger. The loading gate spring was defective, I managed to load and fire 21 factory rounds before I sent it in. Got it back with 11 day turn around; it is fixed. Took it afield, finished that box of AE factory and went thru a box of my hand loads featuring 2400 and Lyman 311316. Good gun and a good cartridge. I like it; a lot!!! Pics

Here's my own 2 cents. I had a lot of trouble with mine at first, but it has cleaned up nicely. Once I get the issue with too shallow cut-out on the loading gate fixed, It'll make a great "packin' pistol". Those are MP 314-640 100 grain boolits there. Sized .313, lubed with Ben's Red and loaded over 11.0 grains of ww-296 they seem to want to shoot great in limited testing. Thursday I am going out to the range for further testing.

I opened up the loading gate notch on mine last night, took it out this afternoon, the base pin doesn't like to stay in place, that's my only issue with it now.
Also shot my new to me Blackhawk 30 Carbine, guys have said they're LOUD!?, it has nothing on the 327 Federal!

My AutomagIII shoots .30 carbine and its noisey , but my 3" SP 101 in .327 fed will match it . looks like I may need to polish the inside or the gate of my single sevens too .

I didn't notice mine being that loud. Comparable to my 357s I would say. But a lot softer shooting. Those factory AE loads were hell on steel plates at the range. I'm waiting for NOE to run some of their 314 molds. And hoping that MP mold shows up for sale here. The 640 nose profile is accurate in everything I've shot it in. Just don't have one for 32 cals

I use the old 311316 for 4 different 327's. Good solid accurate boolit.

I've had mine for almost a month now and it is emerging as a new favorite. The 327 in the Single Six is as perfect as I can imagine.

The only factory 327 I've tried is the American Eagle JSP. It shows a preference for the 100 grain (1480 fps avg) over the 85 grain bullet (1390 fps average).

I haven't figured out if the Lyman 311008 shoots better than the RCBS 32-98 SWC yet as are doing well at velocities on up to 1400+ fps. Lil'Gun produces the best velocity and accuracy at the higher speeds. Every powder I've tried in the 1200-1300 fps seems to shoot well (W231, Unique, AA#5, SR4756). I might give AA#5 the edge as it has the most data available. Unique data seems sedate for the cartridge but is sure shoots consistently well in terms of velocity and accuracy.

The 32 H&R loads I have for my 32 Single Six do well in the Single Seven too. Velocities from 860 fps (W231) to 1310 fps (Lil'Gun) using the RCBS 32-98 SWC are impressively accurate in both guns.

I need to get casting as these little 32's have a voracious appetites.

Details man, details! What kind of loads are they? Are you using the gas check or no? "Inquiring minds..."

PS I've got a SC mould in 311316, but I'm hot on the trail of a DC. Stay tuned!

Those Single Sevens just reek of awesomeness. I have zero interest in the .327 cartridge itself though. Oh Ruger, why did you ever give up on the .32 Magnum?
    Currently casting and loading: .32 Auto, .380 Auto, .38 Special, 9X19, .357 Magnum, .257 Roberts, 6.5 Creedmoor, .30 WCF, .308 WCF, .45-70.

After my tribulations with the Solo Siete, I am quite pleased with it now that the loading gate is opened up a bit.

I grew up shooting a .32 H&R Magnum that my father gave me...nostalgia alone is worth the cost for the new to me .327.

The SS are showing up on armslist for less than retail at the LGS, so it is a decent time to buy.

I'd love to get excited about a Single Seven, but I've got loads for my Single Six in 32 H&R that get NOE 314008 to about 1350 give or take 20 fps. I'm not sure I want to go faster in 32.

Whit Spurzon - yes those 32s do have a voracious appetite! I started shooting 32s instead of 45 Colt so I could save on lead. That isn't working out at all. Those NOE 5 cavity moulds and a Star lubrisizer make lots of beatutiful boolits in a hurry. Still they just seem to evaporate. I'm low now. Only a few hundred left.

Where are you crimping the RCBS 32-98 boolit? I'm guessing over the front driving band so it'll fit in the cylinder. I don't own a Single Seven yet but sure would like to shoot the 32-98 boolit in it when I get one.

As I said, I shoot the 311316 and yes I GC it. I'd shoot the 3118 before I shot a 311316 without a check. I have tried several lighter cast bullets in all my 327's and find that they all do better with the 115 grain boolit. The 95-100 are faster I suppose but they fade on long range accuracy. Even the 2" Taurus is better with the heavier boolit.

In 327 I run 1.485" OAL and that just covers the driving band. In 32 H&R I've settled on 1.400" which crimps into the driving band.

The RCBS 32-98 SWC is the best 32 H&R boolit I've tried and it is probably true in the 327 as well. More testing is required.

I just cast a few hundred more and Shooting on a Shoestring said, they will 'evaporate" quickly.

I just yesterday got out to the range after opening up the loading gate. I am really pleased with the accuracy. This gun seems to really want to shoot, but I have had problems with mine and the 327 heavy boolit loads. About one shot in three, the base pin jumps free and ties up the gun. It shoots fine with 32 H&R loads and 32 S&W Longs, but the 327 loads using the 311-316 and the 311-465 require the base pin to be checked every shot. That said, both the 311-316 and the MP 314-640 100 HP shot some very nice groups.
I'll be calling Ruger monday--I hope that the 7 1/2 incher that I ordered works out better.

Yea, my base pin wants to unlock and move also. I'll just get a Belt Mountain lock and pin and enjoy "end of problem".
