$35 for a complete vintage Ohaus 10 10 scale good?

Yes I do believe it's the same as an RCBS 10 10, but older. I don't know how much older though. Looks complete. Is at an upcoming charity sale. Don

New I believe they are over $100, I haven't checked lately. It is my most used scale.

Ohaus made the RCBS 10 10 and the Lyman M5 and they are the same scale re-badged as the Ohaus 10-10. My memory at least. I have owned one of the Lyman M5's for about 40 plus years now and I wouldn't trade it for anything, including the new electronic scales. I have one of those also but my M5 is here to stay as long as I last. james

there are 2 different versions ---one is grams --- other is grains . make sure you get the right one

The last new one I saw was pretty close to $150.00.

To my knowledge, Ohaus made both the Lyman M5 and the RCBS 1010. Both are 1000 grain (actually 1010 grains) capacity; but there is a difference. The Lyman has a normal moveable counterpoise for the tenths position, while the RCBS has the micrometer adjustment style.

I have both, and as soon as I can decide which I like better; the other one will be offered in Swapping and Selling.

picked one up a couple weeks back in the S&S for $32 shipped , the RCBS 10-10 runs over $150 new. Nice thing about the RCBS is they back it 100% had one I sent in to be checked and got a new in box one back

New they are $180 retail. I bought 3 broken ones and made one, Im into it $65 and considered that a great deal.
I also have an Ohaus I paid $100, complete and that was still a good deal

The older 10/10's are a better bet than the new scales.
The older version was better made and had graduation marks at the pointer.

The old Lyman M5 is an excellent scale if you can find one (The old RCBS 5-10 is also worth looking out for)

I wanted to follow up and thank you all. I did not get the scale as hoped. Just wasn't meant to be. I'll keep looking. I'd like to be able to weigh my slugs for accuracy and quality reasons, but my only scales are two Lee Precision balance beams that of course only weigh to 100 grains, and came in kits 14 years apart. Thanks though everyone. Maybe somebody here has a scale they are selling because of upgrading or something. Don.

Hang in there, you'll find one. But if you buy, don't buy one of the newer ones. They're made in Mexico and aren't worth the money. Not made like the old ones and have stampings in place of machined parts that aren't compatible with accuracy or accuracy tuning. Do a search on Scott Parker and tuned scales to see what I mean.

You can pick up the digital Frankfort scale for about $32 (around here). It seems to be a good scale. 0.1gn accuracy.

I have checked it against my lab weight sets and it is easily within tolerance and repeatability.

I have many beam scales (one dual pan lab scale that is 0.01gn) and tend to gravitate to my 2 digitals for speed and easy readout accuracy! FYI.....I collect and reproduce antique balance scales.
