I just got a BIG box of Winchester AA Grey hulls and wanted to know how you all clean them.... I have a bunch that has what looks like rust on them (mosty wipes off) and they all have powder residue on the inside. Should I just wash in soapy water? and put out in the sun to dry?

AAs have a genuine brass base, so any rust must be from the old primer. If you're going to bother cleaning them, you should probably de-prime first. That should help them dry faster, too. As long as you stick to real brass only, washing is OK, but most folks don't clean shotshell hulls at all, other than tapping out any debris and wiping down the outside.

Yeah it came from the old primers and since they were in a box together (dont know how long) it spread all over them. I have already deprimed all of them (threw away quite a few that were squished) so I think a quick wash of the primer area should do then. I just wanted to clean them like I do brass so I can get a good look at them to cull the iffy ones.

That should be fine, and it will get them nice and clean, especially if you use a little dishwashing detergent in the water. Just like metallic reloading, this also has the advantage of getting rid of the small amount of lead left in there.
