    Cfe 223?

Does anyone have any experience with CFE 223?

    The powder canister notes 204, 22-250, 223, and 308.

I would appreciate any better 223 load data, results. I will shoot this in a Mossberg Predator in 5.56.

    Thanks in advance,

    HV

I've had good success with CFe223 out of my AR's. Function and accuracy were best at the upper end with the generic 55gr FMJ rounds I loaded.

The Hodgdon data site(http://www.hodgdonreloading.com/) has jacketed data for a bunch of weights available for 223. If it works as well as CFE pistol it is a great powder.

Great powder, burns clean. Accurate and case filling.
55gr bulk ammo at 27.2gr was best for me.

If you google around, I think it was dick metcalf but someone did check whether it worked to prevent copper buildup, or erased previous buildup. Turns out, it will do a decent job of taking out old copper fouling but not all, and prevents new cover fouling from adhering. That's what I was able to glean from my google searches before. Hope you have good luck with it!

I can't say how CFE 223 runs in a 5.56, but in my Savage .308 Hog hunter it is THE best powder I have ever used.
And I have tried a lot of powders, wish I could run CFE in my 6.8 AR

Odd that a couple of you say CFE-223 burns clean for you. Saw a one pound can of it on my son in laws bench. When I asked about it he just moaned. Said it was the dirtiest powder he'd ever used and wasn't buying anymore. He'd of loaded it in a 5.56mm.

Has anyone tried it in either 9.3x62, or 9.3x74R? IT looks like the burning rate should be somewhere in the ballpark. I have had best results so far with Varget and RL15 in those two, but always looking for something even better. The Speer 270 gr has a very soft jacket material, probably pure copper. Even the slick barrels of my rifles get a heavy copper layer.
