Faure's Requim, Having performed it a couple of times I find my self singing it at tough times. Agnus Dei and Libera Me Domine are great. His Pie Jesu has been preformed in many movies and countless stages. Even if you cannot understand Ecclastical latin the music moves you, If you do, and it reflects your belief in Him it is even better.

LOL , MFGinni I have many hymns I resort to in hard times but this one is no hymn . I have sang it a million times when away from those I could count on and understand Jimmy Rodgers . In the 30's he rode the rails trying to find work during the depression . I married one of his third cousins .

If you don't understand that time period you will not understand the song but still interesting . STUDY HISTORY .

You know ........I'd like your opinion . Should this hymns topic also include inspirational Christian music ? Or should it be a separate (but another great) topic of it's own ? I'll start by voting separate (but great !) . There is so much bluegrass , country , folk , traditional , contemporary , Christian rock , etc that it should have it's own place . Please voice your yes or no and lets do it !

"Rock of Ages" and "The Old Rugged Cross". if I sit in a still dark corner & concentrate real hard I can hear my granny sing them one more time in my mind while she ironed the clothes she just took off the line..

    Blessed assurance

I was blessed to be in the audience that day, the energy and the anointing was completely indescribable.
