    cast boolet for 357sig

    Groo here
How about a double ended boolet round nose on one end,tc [ possible hp] on the other.
    Crimp/lube grooves.
As the 357sig has a short neck the bearing area will be small.
    Some where about 147gr.

I don't think that would work very well and will be prone to leading. A heavy I use for .357sig is the Accurate 35-147S. About 151 gr from range scrap.

Mine really likes the Mihec 125-359 H/P, and shoots the lee(Ranchdog) 100 grain 380 boolit like a laser, but tends to be picky about seating depth on the 380 boolit because it is so short.

I got some of those in a trade and loaded some dummy rounds up. The profile is not well suited for .357sig. A larger portion of the neck is on the ogive of the bullet. Though it seemed neck tension was just so adequate for being chambered once.

The Lee 95gr ranch Dog clone loads nice in the sig.

If NOE ever gets their 128gr and 135gr RF molds in stock I will try those.

I've found tht the LEE 124gr. TC standard grease groves works good for me. Would a tc with a hollow point expand? Interesting idea, I'll keep tabs on this thread.

At 357sig speeds unless you are using a rifle alloy you will get some expansion even without a H/P.

I use coww for most of my pistol shooting. What I know about bullet design I can hide behind the period at the end of this sentence.

    Groo here
To expand on my idea, was looking for a 147 weight boolet that was designed for the 357sig [short nose]
but could still be used in a 9mm.[ reduced at the base for case taper]

A copy of a 147gr Hornady XTP would be nice. Has a little boattail which the 9mm needs. Or at least a bevel. The 35-147S may fill the throat on the 9mm a little too much.

How about a flat nose at 147gr , with an hp option at some lighter weight?
