Alternative use for NOE 314 640.

    G'Day
Some time ago I bought a NOE 314 640 for the 32/20. I reduced the pin size so it would fill out easier and as usual I was impressed with Swede's work. But I haven't got it to shoot in my 32/20 yet basically due to laziness on my part. Anyway I recently got a CZ 527 in 7.62x39 and had to come up with some loads to kill some Wallaby. Being a tightwad I wanted to use cast and spied on the shelf a heap of 314360s so I loaded them in PMC cases with Fed 210 and 23.5 grns of 4198. Here are the results.Click image for larger version.

Overall I'm pretty happy with the load.

Cool, do you have a pic of the bullet? Can you/do you eat wallaby? What's the target distance? Not sure if it's a typo, but the thread name mentions mold 314-640 but you say you loaded up and shot mold 314-360. What kind of gun is the 32-20 in?

Yes we eat them and it's very good meat with no fat. Yes and I did a typo it's the 314-640. The targets were at about 85 meters. Sorry add on, my 32/20 is a Marlin 1894CL.

I have the same mold, and I too reduced the pin size to make fill out easier. Until reading your post, I never thought to try them in my 1894 CL. Hmmm...

I reckon I'll cast a few more and give them a go in the Marlin. It's one of my go to guns for walkabout shooting and if I can get a load going it would be good. I haven't used much else other that Lyman 311316 cast in this gun because it shoots scary gooood with them.

With accuracy and performance like that, you can not ask for more out of that load combo.
