    A 20 bore cape gun?

Anybody have any experience with old fully rifled 20 bores? A local shop has a 20smooth x 20 rifled for sale, and I'm considering it.

Turns out the selling shop was wrong about the bore (didn't look right to me when handling, so I measured it) and it's actually a 16 bore.

It's a cartridge gun, 2.5" chambers (65mm) and proofed for nitro. looks like it was made about 1905.

In doing some research, it looks like it was made to fire paradox loads, but with full rifling instead of being an actual paradox bore.

Is the rifling straight or curving?
Sounds just like the thing for Magtech 16 gauge brass hulls

Curved rifling, I would estimate at something like 1 turn in 30 or thereabouts. I was thinking just the same thing about the Magtech brass hulls.

Pretty neat gun. I'll try to get photos next week either way I go with it.

I managed to get some photos.

The asking price is probably going to keep me from getting this one, but I've made an inquiry to the owner about a potential trade.

The model is a Manufrance Ideal No2R (R stands for reinforced, it has a cool additional lockup feature) and is nice and tight.

It's got the funny "lunette" Or spectacle trigger guard, and the triggers are actually pretty decent. The recoil pad is ugly and would have to be replaced with a leather covered pad or something similar.

You can see the right barrel's rifling in the last photo.

Depending on the Price You might want to pick it up. I have some 16ga slug designs available, they are HB solid, and HP designs. I have the Molds made to configure it based on the Need. They do not have Lube Grooves, and weigh from 470 Gr up to 675 Grains in solid Form.
Let me know it I can Help/

Boy that one is very interesting. I have not seen the "lunette" trigger guard before. Thought I had seen about everything but apparently not!
