New Lee bullet sizing die - (Amazing )

I have been casting for four or five days. ( This year )

I cast a bunch of 41s but I didn't have a sizing die.

I ordered the Lee 410 die from Midway USA Friday.
It arrived at about noon:30 today.

It is too hot to cast comfortably this afternoon so I put that die in the press and ran about 20 bullets through it.

I opened up the catch container and pulled out one bullet.

I put my mike on it and you will not believe what it read!

.41000! That was a shock!

I turned it 90 degrees and tried again.

.41000 - What's up with that!

I turned it about 30 degrees and tried again.

.41005 ( Note that is half a tenth )

I turned it 30 degrees again and tried it again.

.40095 ( Yes I know the mike can't resolve that degree of accuracy but it displays it anyway. ).


I have never seen anything that close to the stated diameter OR that round in my life!

AND I don't expect to again.

Geez and I thought I was doing good with my new Lee .452 sizer, it resulted in .452 - .4525 readings consistently with digital calipers not a micrometer. I agree, buy a lottery ticket, now.

It's not a fluke, all of my Lee sizing dies are about as close as you are going to get and Yes I was also surprised at the accuracy of an inexpensive product. Lee Precision, keep doing what you are doing.

Me impressed too! I bought a .429 and was pleasantly surprised by it. It works really well (once I realised that I don't need to screw it too far into the turret) - easy and accurate. A fellow club member wasn't aware that you could buy sizers that fit into the press (he uses a lubrisizer) until I mentioned it to him, so he promptly bought one and loves it. Reckons it's much better than the lubrisizer. He likes feeding them in and watching them fall over into the container on top!

He said at that price it's a bargain.

Many of my Lee bullet sizing dies seem to run .001 to .0005 inch undersize . I have lapped several to fit my needs , first one was a .457 -> .460 inch for .45-70 . I try to size to at least .002" above groove diameter .

I run my Lee sizing dies in the cheapest cast press Lee makes, and I mount it upside down. I have the occasional undersized boolit and it is easier to weed them out if they drop free into the catch pan rather than going up into the plastic can.

I have used my little Lee C-Frame press to size bullets , for several years .

I really wish Lee would introduce a lube sizer for half the cost of the other guys. I know they could do it, and it would sell like mad. I love their push through dies but pan lubing really slows me down.
