    Quietest .22 round?

A friend gave me some sub sonic .22lr that cycles the action, and it is much quieter than most .22lr but it's still much too loud for taking out pests in a residential area at night. What is the quietest .22 ammo? I am not so much concerned if it cycles the action in a semi auto or not, just as long as I can feed it from the tubular magazine.
    Got a .22 .30 .32 .357 .38 .40 .41 .44 .45 .480 or .500 S&W cylinder that needs throats honed? 9mm, 10mm/40S&W, 45 ACP pistol barrel that won't "plunk" your handloads? 480 Ruger or 475 Linebaugh cylinder that needs the "step" reamed to 6° 30min chamfer? Brand: Aguila 1B222339
    Item: AMM-066
    UPC: 640420001289

.22 Long Rifle, Aguila Super Colibri, 20 Grain Lead Round Nose Bullet, 500 Round Brick.

Aguila Super Colibri is super quiet ammo that does not contain gun powder but fires from the force of the primer only. Powerful and silent, great for use in urban areas. This is a 20 grain solid lead bullet in a brass case. Will break glass and penetrate hard tin cans. Velocity is 500 fps at the muzzle with 11 ft/lbs of energy and can be lethal. This ammo works great and is intended for .22 handguns only.

Will not cycle in semi auto guns. Non returnable item.

Not recommended for use in long barreled guns as the projectile may become lodged and be dangerous (lethal) if a regular cartridge is shot as a follow up.

Will not cycle in semi auto guns. Uses: Indoor training, pest control.

As stated in post #4 cut n paste from website...that is one thing to look out for if using the primed only rounds...

Thanks for the replies, looks like by the time it gets quiet enough, there is less energy than the .25 caliber Marauder air rifle.. A LOT less as a matter of fact. Guess I will stick with the syn rod..

I like CCI Quiet22. Feeds but wont cycle a semiauto. 40gr LRN at 700fps. Not much louder than an air rifle.

Quietest is the Aguila as mentioned.

Best for pests of size? CCI Quiet or CB

I'll go 3rd on the CCI Quiet .22. Plenty quiet enough in suburbia....when you're the one firing it, yes, it seems too loud. But to folks on the other side of the fence or hedge row, sounds like a snap or tap if they even notice at all.

Another vote for the cci quiets. I use a paco tool on them to modify the nose of the bullet.

Aquila also makes a 60 grain bullet that shoots with no sound from either of my rifles. The bullet hitting the target makes more noise.

I've used both 20 and 60 grain Aguila in a Cricket rifle (16" barrel). They were effective against raccoons and squirrels at up to 15 feet, quiet, and did not stick in the bore, though I would advise anyone to check frequently.

The way I understand it, the aguila 60gr load known as Sniper SubSonic, requires a faster rifling twist than is common in 22s. I don't know the exact twist rate.

Before I bought suppressors, I used to use either my Savage 24 or my Marlin 39 lever gun with T22 shorts for varmint duty

Remington sub-sonics in an old Mossberg 28in barreled target rifle are about as quiet as a pellet gun.

A faster twist may give better accuracy. I have an old Winchester M52 barrel and it delivers very good accuracy with the load. Not anything to win a benchrest competition but good enough for hunting small game.

While I know you asked about subsonic 22 loads, have you considered any other caliber? Cat sneeze loads are common for many cartridges.
