Anyone using a sizing die with shaped ejector pin to bump a bevel base onto a soft lead plain base boolit?

I want to shoot soft .430" cast boolits in a sabot from my muzzleloader. I like the RCBS 44-250K and the Lyman 429421. Both are plain base. It's been suggested that BB boolits will release from the sabot better than PB's.

Sounds like swaging dies would be better than stressing a lubrisizer past its design strength.

If using a Lyman 450 or 4500 I wouldn't try it. I made up a top punch with a pin projection to hollow point some soft 44s. First try sheared the lubesizer linkage with a loud crack. Barely marked the boolit nose.

I'm using a RCBS LAM II. To clarify, the alloy will be pure lead or SOWW at BHN 5-6. I'm just looking to break the corner of the base, giving it a slight chamfer to aid release from the sabot.

I've seen similar ejector pins on evilbay, probably to lube BB's.

I use an old CH Swage-O-Matic to bump up and push a slight hollow base into the 50cal plated bullets for the 50AE. Turned out the dies and punch on the lathe and settled on a .501 dia .... the problem with squeezing a bullet is that Both ends get the benefit of the pressure, and the smallest end gets deformed the most. It can be done but the punchs need to be profiled for both ends.
