    American Reloading Commercial #5

At americanreloading.com they have Commercial #5 for $172/8lbs. Not exactly cheap but it says it can be used in everything from 9mm to 45acp including 357mag, 10mm and shotguns.

As near as I can tell its a Maxam product and either csb-5 or very close to that in the Red Dot range.

Anyone have experience with this powder?

Yes, I read that thread with interest. I posted that I think it is Maxim CSB-5 but not sure it is as the information on the site is not complete. I was wondering if anyone has used this specific powder.

Even with hazmat and shipping added on, it is still about $4 a pound cheaper than powders here. I may need to get some.

Hey buddy just curious why you wanted to get this stuff? is it for the mystery? or are you like me and just like to work will all different powders?
because the burn rate if this stuff is close to Red Dot which is identical to a lot of powder you have.

So did anyone ever get any and have decent results (particularly in 9mm)? I was thinking of ordering a keg myself. Would be using in 9mm and .45ACP mostly.

They call it "common sense". Why is it so uncommon?

Those are very consistent loads. Especially the 40S&W. I may have to try that powder.

I saw that when I visited their site tonight. There are others who have been using the csb-1 and having excellent results in the cartridges you posted. I suspect it will work well for you too.

Hi-tech ammo also has the commercial #5 and the I asked about it.. He said that the commercial #5 is actually the same load data as Accurate Arms #5 and uses the same data.

The above charge weights don't correspond with AA#5 data. The above is closer to Bullseye or AA#2 data.

Did he say if it's a ball powder?

Recently ran across some Lovex D036. Made in the expolsia powder plant. It's apparently the same as AA#5

Tested some 38 Special loads in a 6" barreled GP-100 using Commercial #5 yesterday...
3.0 grains of the #5 under a Lee C358-158 SWC. w/ Super Moly lube, small pistol primer.
-Shot OK...Clean burning and little smoke. Not as good a group as same load using Green Dot
or Bullseye. (Shot at an indoor 50 ft. range)
-Seems to be most similar to Red/Green dot.
-Did not try to meter it, I weighed everything.
I am fairly optimistic that I can get this stuff to shoot as well as Green Dot.
