    32 cal MAXIBALL

Picked up two pristine condition 32 cal molds (quite sure they have never been used or "fondled" for that matter) 1 round ball and 1 Maxiball.

    10 bucks each!!!!!!!!!

They both seem to be TC molds, (compared them to two known TC molds that I own) but the Maxiball seems to have a profile I didn't expect.

The forward grease groove is wide, the rear grease groove is narrow (typical) but the rear one has a v-groove profile and isn't flat bottomed, the forward is v'ed on the ends and is flat bottomed.

It also has vent lines on the top half of the blocks, all my TC molds have no vent lines (round ball molds)

Anyone else own a known TC mold in this configuration?

Might just be an early or later design.

    Sorry don't have photo's

    Let me know.

    THANKS

Are they aluminum or iron. Lyman made all of these if they were iron if I remember right. My 50 cal maxi-ball 370 gr is aluminum and has vent lines. I was told the aluminum ones were T/C made.

My aluminum mold looks like it is anodized in a gold color. Is yours anodized? Or does anyone know if it is just from use it changed color?

    Question

Who actually manufactured the Maxi- and Roundball molds T/C marketed is a bit of a mystery. The iron ones were indeed manufactured by Lyman, but also Green Mt., and Ohaus. The aluminum ones by Shiloh, maybe by Green Mt., and possibly by T/C itself. In short, T/C contracted with different mold makers at different times to produce their molds.
