For the love of God, please tell me you didn't do all those this weekend with a two cavity mold. If so, color me impressed.

Given the amount I shoot, that would hold me a good long while. With a 2 cavity mould that's a lot of work - I'm impressed too!

That's more lead than a Chinese toy factory at Christmas. Nice work!

The pan on the right was done yesterday and the one on the left today . Those light quick cooling two cavities molds can put out some bullets . Once you figure out what they like and do not like . Marvin

Very nice. I was slugging the barrels on a few today between church services.

That's one nice batch of popcorn you popped up! LOL Looks like you had a good rhythm town and moved right along!

I like your comment about the double cavity . . . . I've picked up some single cavities over time (Ideal/Lyman) of a design that I wanted to try. In every case, if I've liked the boolit it makes, I start looking for a double cavity in the same design (although I try to buy double cavities). I'm not out to cast a pile full but do like to make enough to last for a while. It always amazes how many more I can put out with a double cavity once I get a rhythm down. I know a lot of folks love 4 and 6 cavities but for me, I've always figured that the extra time with one of those in pouring, sprue cutting and dumping (specially if there is one or two sticky cavities) I can pretty much offset with a good double cavity moving right along.

Looks like a great batch you made! Doesn't matter if it's a 1, 2, 4 or 6 cavity though . . . there's just something really satisfying about making a nice pile of boolits!

They are weighting in at a average of 167 grains . I did sort , weigh and lube the bullets in the pot on the right today when I got home from the range . Ended up with 27 3/4 pounds of good bullets . The pot on the left is a little larger and should produce at least 30 plus pounds . Will weigh them Thursday if things go right . Last Thursday I cast with that mold and ended up with 14.5 pounds of bullets that were not in the picture . I think tomorrow I will get the pot hot again and use this mold again while we seem to be getting along with each others . The bullets are dropping at .4535 which is a diameter that works well in my rifle with out sizing . Which eliminates hour of work for me . I have never owned more than a 2 cavity mold . I like my molds to be light and cool fast . I could very easily be wrong but I agree with what you stated about pour time as well as cooling . My thoughts are the higher the number of cavities a mold has the greater the odds are that there will be a larger difference in each bullet from cavity to cavity . Marvin

When every thing is right and you are in the flow, it is hard to stop because it is hard to recover that moment.
The flow and the Zen of boolit casting. Maybe we can get a government grant to test the effect on the brain of a male with a pot of molten lead, his favorite mold and 2-3 hours of solitude producing such a lovely product.
