I don't think it will work. The case probably wont go far enough into the FCD to work.

I don't think you can do that unless you put a "skirt" on the bottom of the die to make up the difference in case length. The FCD has 4 fingers that close in on the neck just like the neck sizing die. The fingers close in when the bottom of the die makes contact with the shell plate. The 30-06 case won't let the 30-30 die touch the shellplate because it is too long.

Well there is a way and that's to stick the case in the top of the die i just make a dowel to sit inside the die that the boolit bumps up against to stop in the right place and work the press i do the same thing with 375 win to make a crimp below the boolit in the case to keep from pushing the boolit into the case.

It does help out when flaring rifle necks for cast boolits. I bought both the universal expansion die and FCD for my .308 when using cast boolits.

Here's the link for the 30-06 FCD

I never found a use for a FCD at all. 30-30 needs only a gentle roll crimp.

The FCD for rifle is one of if not the best tool Lee makes. A consistant roll crimp requires consistant case lengths. With the FCD case length (within spec of course) means nothing. You get the same crimp with every round.

Unless you have an 06, just order one. They will work for any 30 cal by dropping past the mouth from above, but why bother. Haven't tried the dowel trick for the 308ME.
    Whatever!

You will really frustrate yourself trying to adapt a 30-06 FCD for use with a 30-30.

I need the FCD to get .310 boolits to easily chamber in my Marlin.

You might as well use smaller dia. bullets because that's what you'll end up with.........I'd thin the case necks before I would squeeze down my cast bullets.

It's very simple to turn the cartridge upside down and hold the case mouth just in the jaws of the collet from the top as you work the ram to activate the die. That's also the best way to apply gas checks to boolits without sizing the boolit. Just use an appropriate diameter FCD and adjust to crimp the check to the boolit diameter.

HMM, that is an really great idea. I have not had a case where the GCs are too loose, but
that would be a real trick to try in that case - or, as you say, if you didn't want to size the
    boolit.

Welcome back, sir! Good to hear from you again.
