We used to buy Red Dot packaged the same way back in the 60's. Don't know when they stopped the practice. 25# when full.

The PB is newer than the 700x...it has the plastic spout.

we used to buy powder like that into the mid- 90's.
last one I got was 800-x and the one before that was red-dot.
the Winchester powders come in taller cardboard cans [tubes] with thin metal lids and bottoms kinda like a pringles can, I made little garbage cans out of them for the older kids.

The PB & one 700x were unopened, the other 700x is same lot # and looks/smells good. I tried it in mouse fart loads against a known 700x and it looks good. These powders cost me a little more than $6/lb! What is PB good with?

From what I understand PB is similar in burn rate to Green dot and quite bulky! YMMV.

I bought a four pound can of 700-x in the early 1980s. It was the rectangular style but I don't know what containers were used for the larger amounts. Both PB and 700-x are good for lighter loads in pistol calibers. I'm still using the 700-x.
