I have not mounted it up yet but I have a 30 BR SS heavy barrel for the Savage platform.

The previous owner shot it competitively and gave me his load book for it when he sold it to me.

That one is a slow twist so long heavy slugs are out but I think a medium cast may be feasible.

The Axis stock I had was more flexible than Tupperware , if the Ruger was in my future I think I would look at that very closely .

I picked up some plastic's that have worked well but both that I tried on my Remington 700V alas were too flexible including the factory stock.

I am buying one regardless. Can't hunt w/ an AR so this makes more sense. I would like to see one built like a M77 w/ controlled round feed. And I'd be willing to pay for it. This one is at exactly the right price for what it is.

Interesting to read all the positive benefits of the bolt action rifle compared to the AR platform. Cast boolit shooters are a discerning bunch. I would add one more real advantage. With the bolt action, it is nice not having to chase the brass or use some cumbersome catcher to avoid brass loss.

You might want to check Rugers web site as they are now offering seven different models for lefties in the "American" rifle.

The demand would be off the charts.
I would buy one if they did. I cant afford the more expecive rifles and my handi rifle...well....

The last Ruger I bought was before they offered any left handed rifles . If they've changed their mind about selling to lefties bless their lil' pea pickin' heart . The answer to the letter I wrote them years ago was not one that would make a person think Ruger had any inclination to satisfy minority buyers . But then ..... that was before Bill SR. went on to his reward . I wonder if they offer a 22 magnum bolt rifle in left hand ...........

Ruger has been cataloging left-hand rifles for many years, in numerous models and calibers.

My latest one is a Gunsite Scout in left-hand guise.

They made the American in left hand; so I wonder why they decided not to make the Ranch in lefty. A right hand action can be kind of nice on the bench as a lefty since my right hand is already free, but it sure is nice to have it on the proper side in the field.

The older I got the more I appreciated using the left hand design . I do practice right handed from time to time using mostly military surplus rifles . Still I'm more comfortable on the left side . I found the Ruger website and looked at the scout . One in eight twist for the two twenty-three chambering sound like that's a bit fast for the bullets I use .

If one is at the gun show in left hand I think I'd just have to pick it up and look it over ...... since I can't seem to find a Remington 7615 .

I hope you never have a catastrophic case head failure. I'm convinced the only reason I still have all of the fingers on my right hand is because I was shooting a left handed rifle when mine happened.

If they make a lefty I will buy it. I might buy a RH but I will wait at least a year or two first to see if they make a lefty.
