Latest marketing ploy: 40 count boxes of .22rf
It's a rare thing for either of the 2 local sporting goods stores, Dick's Sports and Gander Mt., to advertise ANY .22rf ammo. for sale, but today's ad (Dick's) was different. They advertised American Eagle .22rf at $2.39/box with a limit of 3 boxes/person, but each had only 40 rounds. Have I been living in a cave, or is this a sign of the times?

the red box Federal A/E stuff has been 40 rounds and 400 bricks for a looong time now.
they shoot pretty good, nothing special, fast, or fancy but their dud rate is super low and they are fairly accurate.
I see a ton of their empties at our local range.

A bag of sugar at my grocery store is now only 4lb as opposed the old bag of 5lb. Drives me up a wall, they must think I forgot how to read. Buy it or do without, thats the only option.
Liquid soap at wal mart also just got thinned out! Need to find somewhere else to get it now.
Check the size of your toilet paper roll. They`ve been getting smaller since last year. Watch your gas pump before you start squeezing the pump handle for the dispensed amount and money wheels to start turning before you start dispensing.Robert
its nothing new, been doing the 40rnd boxes for a loooooooong time.
The only ones that I have in the 40 round pack are the hollow points. As r5r said they have been like this for quite some time now (at least the hp's). They shoot very well out of a number of my 22's.
The cost of everything (raw materials included) are always going up in price. Manufactures can either raise the price of their product or they can reduce the amount that they sell you for the same price.

Really? I have never seen a 40 rnd of .22lr. Everything I have bought recently was 50 rnds. I have seen 40 rnd of .223 though.
I also noticed they changed the packaging on Orange juice and when they did, they reduced it from half a gallon to like 58 ounces or something like that. Any time the packaging changes, this is liable to be another reduction in size. Same as when a restaurant gets a new menu, it isn't because the other one is old, it is because they went up on prices.
I noticed the 4 lb bag of sugar like 5 years ago. Another reason I don't care for salesmen and marketers. Always trying to pull something over on the consumer.

Paul, you just need to improve your shooting. if you used to hit 40-50 you need to improve to 40-40 and it will cost you the same.

I just checked the freezer, the half gallon is still a half gallon, two quarts 64 ounces. At least for our brand.
