    Martini Cadet Extraction/Ejection

I have a Martini Cadet in 357 magnum. With a freshly sized case the Martini will eject the case if the lever is sharply operated. However, on a fired cartridge the Martini will only partially extract, and the case must then be manually removed. I normally use the rim of the next cartridge in my hand to help remove the fired case.

Is there a way to get positive ejection of fired cases in these Martinis?

Waiting for an answer because I have the same problem. 38/357 unfired eject no problem, 38 fired, no problem. 357 fired...sticks and only 1/3 extracts.

My cadet is in 218 bee and ejects good, actually extracts the case back onto the ramp. I like this as the case is easy to pick off and I dont lose any. I would look at the cmming surfaces between lever and eztractor for wear. Maybe lightly polish the cam and lower working surfaces to reduce friction. A light gun grease may help also.

The Martini Cadet uses a "extractor" not an "ejector" therefore normally one tends to get a gentle extraction of the case. In the case of tapered shells like the Bee, snapping the lever will produce more of a ejection effect but if the lever is dropped slowly you will get extraction.
In the case of the factory 357 , same thing but once the case becomes swollen from firing you tend to get more extraction.
If you actually have to drag that fired casing from the chamber like it is tight, best to run a chamber cast. The case should easily come out of the chamber with no effort.

My miniature (Cadet-sized) BSA Martini throws fired empties clear of the action, just as if it had an ejector ILO only an extractor - so I'm with Reg, suspecting a less than smoothly reamed chamber (wall), or (possibly) the cases not returning to their normal size after the firing expansion (case age ? heavy loads ?).

Use Cero Safe and cast the chamber and see if the cast pushes out ok. The chamber may have a slight ring or bulge in it that is causing higher pressure rounds to stick.

The Cadet will work fine with this one modification to the bottom of the Extractor where the bolt hits the extractor, silver solder a .120 piece of round stock to the Extractor so as to have more Extractor movement.
I have had four rifles, one a std Hornet, one a blown out Horned, a std Bee and now a Mashburn Bee. The Mashburn will shoot the 40gr Hornady to 3300 fps with 1680 with no extraction problems with the modification.

I always wondered how the BSA .22 target ejectors worked--they would fire the empties back 10 feet!

They have an over center spring. As soon as the extractor starts to move the spring kicks it the rest of the way.
Strait wall cases are a problem on cadets. Most will eject a 22 LR but when changed to a 22 mag they will not. Most of the tapered cases will fall out after they are moved a little bit.
